Please advise in language understandable by a 3 year old.
My husband will be moving overseas (United Kingdom) at the end of the year and myself and the cats will follow about 6 months later. I would like to set up a system that I can make and receive Skype calls and video calls (so husband can see the cats and me and I can see him). As it will be temporary I don't want to pay hefty costs for installation of lines and satellite dishes etc. We don't have an ADSL line nor a landline. I also don't want to pay what seems like hefty fees for a ADSL line (if that's what you call it) that I will only use for Skype. I am too busy at home to use the internet for surfing etc.
I have asked friends but they don't have a clue as their stuff was installed by experts and they just press buttons and phone the geek when things break.

Is there a wireless option that can be paid month-to-month? If so, what do you recommend?
Equipment: what gadgets and thingies do I need exactly? Please use terms I can understand.

It would be nice that the equipment I use is portable enough so I can hand it over to my mother to use when I leave. She has early dementia so the equipment should be easy to use e.g. just a tap on an icon to connect for instance.

Any advice? Is there a recommended company or individual that can set this up for me?
Many thanks

What devices do you have at the moment?
Desktop, Laptop, phone or tablet?

If you want to start from scratch just get a tablet and find out which mobile provider has best signal in you area and get a sim card.
This looks like it will do for skyping.

If you go the tablet route then buy it and the sim card and ask on the forum again how to set it up. The staff at the mobile provider shops are usually not unwilling to help so you could ask there too.
