Wireless modem

What is the reason that we cannot use any wireless modem for the iburst service. Is there a reason for this?

because its not standard over-the-counter wireless. ITS NOT 802.11a/b/g

the iBurst protocol is proprietary. The technology is also unique as it uses multipath RF signals. In other words it uses a speciallized radio transciever as well as supporting firmware.
