I have a Billion 7300G router, running wifi ADSL 384 for my house. I have my desktop pc a room away, and it keeps losing the signal to the router, however if I try my laptop in the room it worx perfect. The pc has an MSI-PCI54G card in it, with a 50cm cable and an antenna. This reaches to the top of the tower. What can I do to increase the signal? Can I extend this cable, and if so how? Are there better PCI cards than this one? Or better aerials? I am looking for a solution fairly quick, even browsing sux like this, nevermind gaming. With the laptop, CS:S is perfect, stable ping of 30-40 with 0 choke, much further away than the pc from the router.

Extend the UTP cable :D

or put on a better antenna 8 dBi patch keep the antenna cable short as possible from pci card to antenna more cable less signal.
what chipset does the MSI-PCI54G?
if you say the laptop works then the PCI card must be the problem

Is the cable normal coax cable? And where in JHB can I get better aerials? I don't know the chipset, all it says is IEEE802.11G, and maker is MSI WLAN.

No not normal coax but Low Loss cable
you will probably use LMR 195 as it is easier to work with. it is not cheap +- R20 per meter.

you can get that an antennas and cable from any of the places here http://www.jawug.za.net/SuppliersList

From experience, which PCI wireless network cards are good? The MSI I have is 3 years old, I think it may be the problem, things move on in technology...

Our office is using D-Link (Atheros, DWL-G520), very reliable and good support from local guys
