Hi all

I'm wanting to setup a wireless network at the office to share our ADSL connection and wanted to know what the reach of the average access point is. I'm situated in a double-storey building and wanted to know what other people's experiences have been with signals going thru walls / floors etc

Or is it very much a hit and miss affair ?

Thanks

I'm not sure what the new wireless routers can do but I installed one about a year ago for an office with adsl. It worked all over the office but not thru walls.

A different Option might work though. A set up a machine with star os. get a wireless card in there and an antenae. This is what most Hotspots use. It has a super long range thru walls and everything

..- dot dot dash ;)

From experience it is best to limit the walls you go through to as few as possible.[:)] But if you've got no choice try keeping the route the wireless signal has to travel @ a 90 degrees angle to the wall so that the interference is minimal. Also watch out for other interference like electrical current, cell phones, microwave ovens, ect..

Kind Regards
