Also, is there a ban on porn material such as porntube.com , this includes both it's viewing, video streaming and download- I don't want to be caught onthe wrong side of the law, btw I'm at Wits....thank you

Wits monitors all internet access. If you have been one of the top data users on a particular day you will receive and email with all the sites you visited. In addition the computer use policy prohibits the downloading of copyrighted and pornographic material with harsh disciplinary measures if caught. Its a case of you can do it but if you get caught the hammer comes down hard.
Seriously, just get your own internets to download your pr0n and torrents with.
It's not that expensive these days to get a 3G dongle and a SIM and several GB a month.
All universities have extensive web usage policies and site tracking.
You can get into a lot of trouble for doing this kind of stuff - do NOT throw away your tertiary education over something as pointless as a few downloads.
