Why does this keep happening in the UK?
Because the mental health services here are completely overstretched. Waiting lists are crazy long. The lock down broke a lot of people mentally and the system just is not coping. Doesn't help that it's underfunded and understaffed.

Well here in SA it's non-existent. Ain't noone coming to find you if you die except your landlord to collect on your overdue rent. And we've all got mental health issues, so what does it matter?

SA doesn't even have a public mental health service...

Of course SA does have the service. If you have mental health issues you would have access to mental health services at the various centres around the country. Or get admitted to one of the public mental health hospitals.

Not necessarily true. There are multiple cases, some in the media, where people reported to have been concerned after not seeing their neighbour after a few days. I know of 2 cases where I grew up and 1 in our complex. There has been some in the media.

Hahahaha! Try getting someone on SASSA some meds for bipolar syndrome when Panado's are given out because they don't even have antibiotics. Get out there into the real world of almost 50% of SA'ns.

Here's a cleanup company in Japan documenting some cases they get.

It is there even if not very functional. Point being it exists contrary to your claim.

Normal clinics that offer basic primary healthcare don't offer this service. Often, they'll refer you to a provincial hospital where there might be mental health wards. Severe cases often end up at specialist facilities.

What's the use of existing if not functional? That's like saying you've got a car when it's been broken for a year.

Correct. Now tell me how mental patients in rural areas get to the provincial hospital unassisted and explain their problem?
