Woolworths launches tap-and-go shopping

Woolworths has announced the launch of a pilot Near Field Communications (NFC) system in several of its stores to allow customers to browse, try on, and order products by tapping their phones on NFC tags at various locations in-store.

"This latest addition, another first for South African retail, extends the retailer’s digital shopping capability by allowing customers to enjoy a seamless omnichannel shopping experience, in-store and online," Woolworths said in a statement on Tuesday.

Same question, how do you try make-up on virtually?
Choose the product you want to try on
Find good natural light
Launch your live camera or upload a picture
Select the shade you would like to try
And see instantly the result on yourself
You can see the result of the before/after makeup application, compare between 4 different shades, and share your selfie on social media to ask your friends what they think about your new style.

Must admit their NFC card machines are the only ones that never give me hassles tapping when paying

Yup, my phone and card work by tapping basically everwhere else besides at Woolies. So annoying. Reported it once to a manager - no results.

Thanks for that very detailed answer  Makes me wonder how you know so much about it? Do you know if it will on a photo of my wife or would it have to use my face instead? Sorry, let me stop that train of thought.

Having said that, the article could have been a bit (lot) more clearer about how the NFC would be used.
