3 Jun 2011 New Reports of Elephant Sightings in Knysna
http://travelblog.portfoliocollection.com/Blog/New-Reports-of-Elephant-Sightings-in-Knysna

Environmentalists are excited about another reported sighting of an elephant in the Knysna forest.
A group of hikers apparently spotted two of the elusive mammals earlier in May.

So we have elephants roaming around one of the most popular tourist area's in S.A. in an area of forest about 1200 square km, that are rarely if ever seen, let alone photographed.

Siberia is roughly 5.1 Million square km largely uninhabited, heavily forested and extensively unexplored.

Survival is possible, but video questionable

Why don't these chops just run after it and take a better video.... If I see something like that i would chase the thing down and get better shots.

Exactly it's not like its a dragon or a bear. Just watch for giants they don't like it when you get too close to their mammoths.

If you watch the video you can see its a bear.

I think people are just looking at the picture.

+1

at 1st I looked at the picture and it looked very shopped.

Only after I saw the video that I decide to change my vote to Bear + fish.

But in both cases I must admit I did not think it to be a real mammoth at all, purely because the camera man did not go closer to inspect it or to get a better shot.

Why is it if anything can't be true then it is photoshopped, maybe that is a baby woolly mammoth and the guy had a crap phone or camera?

Guys there is nothing wrong with the camera, it's just a large, out of focus, mammoth.

geez

Lol it's a bear. If it was a mammoth then the guy could have moved along the right-hand side to get a closer shot. The only reason for filming from that distance is cos he would have crapped his jean pant if he got in closer.

Erm could it be cos we actually looked at it and saw that it was clearly NOT a baby wooly mammoth?

erm, is the picture that clear that you can tell?

If I told you that the picture is of a young lady, you would probably see it as a young lady and stop looking further.

But there is more than one truth to the picture. The picture is also of an old crone.

Basically a corny way of saying, there's always more than meets the eye :p

Looks like a wooly mammoth to me... Sure as hell more plausible than extra-terrestrials...

A mammoth would be harmless, so why didn't he get in closer to film it? And why didn't he follow it?

If it were me I would make damn sure of it, and possibly call other people to verify the claim, before going public with a blurry 10-second clip.

if there's a baby then there are surely parents about. Let's see you guys run up to a baby elephant in the Kruger Park and take a picture.
