word problem

excel opens rwally fast

but when i open word it opens really slow and tell me running virus scan
when i open word docs it does the same?


how do i turn this off?

i do not have norton i use avg

Start -> Run -> regsvr32.exe /u avgoff2k.dll

This will disable the office plugin.

yea well i have removed it i have turned the plugin off

all that happens is word does the same thing just doesnt say running virus scan grrrrrrrr

Try this....
Start -> Run -> winword /a

This will run word in a safe mode. If this works you know there is some plugin that is screwing around. Let me know if it does so i can tell you what to check next.

i just removed office deleted all the registry keys
removed avg all registry keys

gonna reload off now see if it works

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes i found a site that fixed the problem

normal.dot was corrupt change the name and word creates a new one that opens fast

Try opening a word document. If it opens straight away, then your normal.dot file might be corrupt.

Oh, and im pretty sure it might be some plugin. Check for other applications on the system that might have office plug-ins.

I think i found the dir i was looking for....

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP

check if theres anything in there, if there is move them to another folder. and try again. Yours might be office10 or office9 depending on your version
