Yikes.. if they hold the footie in the USA people better start applying for visas's now and get ready to stand in a queue from here to mars to get searched, interrogated, stripped, sniffed and glared at by immigration at the USA airports. When last I was there it took us nearly 3 hours to get through the security to get out of the airport, it took even longer to get back in to come home. At least when I got home the queue was only a block long at immigration (thanks home affairs for having nobody on duty).

There is no hope of us matching Germany in that regard and everyone knows this. Everyone knew this before the Word Cup was given to South Africa. What we need to do is not try and match Germany but try and make it possible without being a nightmare.

At the moment there is no public transport to speak of. I would love to know how the government plans on getting 50 000+ people across town from their hotels mostly in the Sandton area to the stadium during peak-hour traffic on our very unmaintaned roads.

I rofl every time that ad comes on. I have often wondered if I should phone Darren and tell him to phone the minister of transport and ask him where to pick up his public transport tricycle.

Where did I mention that I know more that FIFA? You're inability to grasp a point is legendary.

A summary: someone mentioned that it would be better to compare south africa to other third world countries that have hosted the event - like brazil or argentina - my point was that they both hosted the event so long ago that the requirements for hosting it have changed alot. No where was it brought up whether FIFA were aware of the requirements being different or south africa's ability to fulfill those requirements.

Pay attention so you can keep your trolls marginally believable or let the grown-ups talk without your interferance.

Lets look at the list:

- AIDS denialist health ministery and presidency. Do foreign people who come here really want idiots who think betroot and garlic are the solutions to really massive problems? Do you think the tourists want this person in charge of the people who might have to save their lives?

- Crime. South Africa can not even protect its own populance. Do you think there is a single chance they will be able to protect those tourists? All the visitors coming for the FIFA 2010 WC will be perfect soft targets for the gangs of Jozi and Slaapstad

- Corruption. Its every where and in almost every aspect of the government. Right from the top, to the lowest. Theyre all dirty. From Mbeki to the mampoer. The government is currently doing a massive centralization of power at the moment that is ONLY BAD for South Africa.

- Zimbabwe. Our friendly neighbour we support is guilty of some of the most insane human rights abuses in the world. But our government thinks its okay. Can you trust a government that thinks like that?

- Infrastructure. We have taxi wars and people dying every single day on taxi ranks and they want to suggest THIS as a medium for travel? Any people coming to visit us to get pwned during the FIFA world cup... whatever you do, do NOT use public transport. Rather use private. You have more chance of reaching your destination alive and with everything you started out with.

- Health (again). Where do these people go if they are involved in an accident or "suprisingly" attacked and/or raped for their shoes? The local public hospital? Eina... rather leave me in the streets. At the very least its more hygenic.

- Telephone bill. Haha... just wait till they see their telephone bills here! lol

South Africa has shown it can not responsibly look after its own citizens... how do you propose it looks after all the visitors? Or are south africans going to loose their police force for the duration of the games so they can protect the tourists?

I just dont know if south africa is ready to host the FIFA 2010 world cup. I know I am going to be real embaressed when I hear of all the tourists getting mugged and attacked.
