The music in your vids are really brill (I know, someone already mentioned it but still). Who is the artist in your guild recruitment song?

A guy called Miracle of Sound, if you look at the first Abyssal movie I post (I play two of his songs, Norde Mead and Pirate Queen), I put a link in the video to his channel. His pirate rock rocks :D Its a thing... pirate rock.... and I love it :D I messaged him to show him these movies and he enjoys them as well and gave me full permission to "pirate" his songs :D

Here me me "windsurfing" in Archeage yesterday.

When I choose music, I first try for pirate rock, but unfortunately is a very limited genre..... so failing that I look at Irish pub rock punk (yes its a thing)... or if its a more chilled video, then a sea shanty. and occasionally I will break out of the theme like with this Freestyler song and the Chumbawamba song I play in Thatios Showdown vs Core at Fredrich video.

If anyone has video editing and gaming skills and wants to join me in this, drop me a message :D

The music has bit us so deep that our guild actually considered going pirate and becoming a full on pirate guild, but we are the servers only hope to stand up against Core, and the guilds we would let down in Haranya stop us from taking the jump. We have so many guilds (in all factions) supporting and cheering for us that theres no ways we could pirate them. If Aeon gives up, most of the server would transfer out or quit. We are the only threat to Core that Core has experienced in over a year and the our fights... and videos are lifting moral and bringing darn good players into our folds.

Its actually pretty epic when our galleon pitches up, how the Nuian (enemy faction) turn away and dont engage us. These are the same guys who would have pirated us in minutes 6 months ago.

Archeage is so different from Wow, in Wow you dont care what guild a person is in. In Archeage, it is everything. Your guild is known, you are known.

I forgot to download Archeage the last time I was home. I'll add it to my steam downloads but depending on the size, it might take a few days on the wireless out here.

Same here.

@ghoti, I subbed to your YouTube channel .. :D

Yay, thank you :D Hope you can come join us in the world instead of just watching it. its 100x more fun to be in a naval battle than just watch it. The chaos happening around you, the synergy of your crew working together. The adrenalin of being surrounded by a dozen Core naval ships. Way better than any raid boss. Core are so powerful, everyone of their players is like a raid boss to us. So that makes victory against them so sweet. They were so salty we broke their stuff on the Xmas day siege. But as I told them, "your salt is our sugar".

Our guild motto is, "They tried to bury us, but they did not realize we were potatoes"

Now that has an in game meaning, we call anyone who cant PVP a potato (Im a potato for instance). The reason being, farming potatoes is very profitable (but time consuming). However, much profits = good warships :D

I would do it through the glyph client, people are talking about geolock issues with the steam client. Not sure why, but not being able to launch it from steam is a thing, and it makes you download the entire game again.

Trion make their own version of Steam called Glyph. Its just another game launch client thing, but just has their games in there.

Thanks, I shall look at it when I get home.

So all these boats / water craft that you have. Do you have to dock them somewhere? Or do you just summon them?

They become a scroll you can summon at any time. You can only have one vechile summon out at a time. Which is frustrating and why I have two accounts. When Im doing "hot" trade runs and I need to do a super quick loading of my ship in an unsecure area I dont like putting my packs on the ground (as someone can steal them), so I normally have my trade packs on one character and then a merchant ship on my other, so I can have both out at the same time for a quick run. Building these vehicles will take you a LOT of time. Crafting in this game is insanely complex.

You will get a free adventurer clipper when you hit level 55. One you have made a ship or vehicle you can then upgrade the different parts. For instance, my main warship has mythic sails (highest grade you can get in the game). They are probally worth about $1000 of real cash (this was my hardest gaming choice ever.... keep the sails or sell them....I kept them, as theyre almost priceless). I was just freeken lucky when I did my regrade on it. I yolo`d and its the only time I got that far. So my boat is fast :D I also have Epic grade cannons (two grades below mythic). These hit hard. Our main galleon has a mythic cannon. Core have many (but we went Naval cannons for longer range where they went high-angle siege cannons for a harder punch). You will see in many of our naval battles our captain is generally trying to keep us in range of our cannon but out of range of theirs. This is how we tear their fleet.

Another thing about this game, everyone is still clueless as to what you can do in this game (another reason I like it, always something new). I dont think anyone knows most of the game. Every day I learn many new things, every day I learn about a new event. The documentation is non-existent. The game developers intentionally hide stuff from us and make us figure it out. You wanna work out the value of trade runs? Someone has to run them manually and find out if there were patch changes because theyre seldom in the patch notes.

Give you an idea of the complexity of build. You wanna build a small warship. Cool. Its main parts are lumber, iron, and some ship components. The ship may require 10 packs of lumber to finish the first phase of its build. However, lumber doesnt make itself, you make lumber from logs. To get logs you need to plant and grow trees, wait for them to mature, harvest them and then convert them into lumber at a sawmill. 1 pack of lumber requires 100 pieces of lumber, to make a piece of lumber requires 3 logs, cutting down a tree yields you 1-12 logs.

With iron ingots for your ship you need to go mine the nodes manually, then go to a smelter and smelter them down into bars. Some parts require very rare hard to get pieces like thunderstruck trees (a tree struck by lightning).

My advice is if you start the game and hate questing like I do... quest until you get your 2nd scarecrow from the bluesalt brotherhood quests. Thats basically all you need to start building your resources up. Plant your scarecrows and start farming and making gold. You will hit 55 without doing another quest in a short time and there are many XP boosters in the game for fairly cheap.

In this game, the longer something takes to grow, the bigger the yield, the more resources you get per labour. There is a lot of math in this game :D

=profit :D Wait till you see how important your labour is. Labour is life, labour is love. Love your labour.

Some crafting can be labour and profit sinks so be very careful for that.

I watched a couple of quick reviews and one of the chief complaints was labour.

They dont have an inflated economy in this really. There is normal supply and demand, but its generally with in reasonable predicted prices. Good gear is good gear, no matter what expansion. I think they do this to control bots, make you pay, and to control inflation. Wow suffers from gear and finance inflation.

Like 1 gold in wow is worthless, it wasnt so in the vanilla version, but inflation has made gold almost pointless. In this game, gold is gold and it holds its value.

This episode of Extra Credits explains why I think they have this limit in the game.

I have my main account, and then 3 labour accounts. I dont pay for any of them, its easy to get the resources to pay for Apex to pay your subs.

Made this quick video to give you an idea of some of the stuff I have built and crafted. My hardest, most expensive, longest build was my shroudlight for my merchant ship. Took me 3 months to make it.

About 6 months. Im a professional potatoe, I love the crafting and building side of the game, I am not a pvp elitist or anything. Im there kinda just to have fun with my guild. Thankfully our guild has professional warriors :D I did originally play the game when it first launched but it really sucked and have no where near the depth it has now. Back then it was still trying to be a wow clone, now it is its own beast.
