Ok, so i've got the software. Now i need the quickest way to get a CD Key. I've discovered that i have the European version, so i cant use cdromshop to get a key as mentioned earlier as they only have the n. american version.
I don't feel like ordering and waiting for a box i don't need. Any ideas?

Best US server

What servers are you guys out there on? and what's the best USA server to play on for South Africans? (looking for one to create an alliance char on preferably PvP)

I'm a lvl 18 NE hunter on Dragonblight. This Sunday evening it was unplayable.

I've now tried different servers, and I've seen that the latency indicator in the game is not an absolute indication of how much lag you will experience. It seems that the number of players on the server is also a big factor.

This is my benchmark .. I create a new human character and walk all the way to IF to check the lag at the auction house. Dragonblight is the worst I've seen .. it takes about 20 sec for every move I make at the AH. Gorgonnash is the best .. Virtually no lag, even at the AH.

Get data on server populations at http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php

I'd like to hear from other players .. how does your server play at the AH in IF roundabout 9pm our time?

I am Dragonmaw, when I started on it it was a low population server and now it's a high population server. The lag has definitely increased as the population has increased. When I log in at IF it takes about 30 seconds for the game to catch up, also hit lag flying out of IF as soon as you fly over the AH. Laggy when I hit a big raid and then the occasional bit here and there when I am playing in highly populated areas. I was playing this Sunday til about 20:00 wasn't experiencing any major lag on the server up until then.

P.S. Thanks for the cool link

Alot of the 'lag' is actually caused by your PC. My games 'freezes' for a few seconds if I hearthed into Orggrimmar, its not internet lag its the game loading all the characters and their gear that causes this hickup. It seems the game caches all the characters that it recently loaded, because once it had finished loading I have no problem. I'm sure this could be resolved by more memory.

You can change the Europe version to use a US key and visa versa. There is a topic on www.worldofwarcraft.co.za.

I am not in total agreement here. I have a pretty descent system with 1Gig Corsair memory. I run a batch file to close all the arb windoze services before launching the game and I still experience lag in highly populated areas. Not too mention that 20-30 min spike that occurs.

These are the kinds of 'lag' I experience.

A) Players are warping all over the place. (Usually caused by connection spiking or other player's connection [their toon doing funny things, but the other characters are fine])

B) The whole world is paused ala Matrix style or characters are turning in one spot. Your character can't talk to NPC's nor cast spells. (Usually caused by your connection not seeing the server)

C) Disconnects (Sometimes caused by the WoW servers)

D) Players/NPC/Mobs suddenly appear from thin air right on top of you. (Caused by latency being very high -AKA Lag)

E) Your game 'freezes', HDD access' crazy, jumpy graphics while walking forward or warping forward as if in slide show. (This is caused by your PC)

A, B, C and D are connection problems (A - could be your connections or the other person's)

E is PC problem.

The reason I write this here is because alot of people blame 'lag' and not their PC even though it could quite possibly be the problem. In the past, I've sorted out alot of 'lag' issues by upgrading/optimising my PC and WoW will benefit alot by adding extra RAM or even buying a faster HDD.

I'm currently saving cash to purchase another 1 Gig of RAM

Intel P4 2.8 HT (Northwood)
MSI Neo2
2x512Mb Kingston ValueRAM CL2.5
ATI Radeon x800Pro
2x WD SATA 160GB HDD

512Kb ADSL Shaped (Datapro)

Guys, is there anyone in the Randburg/Randpark Ridge area that I can get a copy of the US version of WoW from, please? If you have a CD Key to sell as well, that'd be even better, that way I won't have to buy it from CDROMShop and wait longer! I want to start playing and I want to start playing YESTERDAY! I was fizzed when I found out that we can actually play it legitamately now in SA (without using a bogus address), so I'm quite excited about playing.

See you guys soon... :)

Eu game and key...

Sup guys
Listen I goofed big time with the whole issue of this US/EU difference.
I ended up getting a EU version without knowing the probs. Now Im really just interested in the US one but Im Stuck with the EU game.

Its Brand new, plastic was taken off coz I needed to check the details inside, but its completely new and unused. The key is not been used or even entered in at all.

Im situated in the Northriding/Sundowner area in Jo'burg, if anyone is interested in buying it I work within a retail shop near that area ,you can come in and buy it direct. Cost will be What I paid for it R300.00 straight.
Im not interested in anything other than just selling it off now, I want the US version plain and simple.

Please Hook me up if you interested.
crg0909@hotmail.net is my casual email so you can contact through there.

As far as I know, most the guys in SA are playing on the US servers, i.e there's no one from SA on EU version...

For most there isn't anything wrong with it, but in my case most of the guys I know are on the US server. So for me I'd rather go there, and the fact I hear there are some damn nice servers and stuff. Its a general feeling, would rather hook up with ppl I know than go and start this game without a clue or a hope in hell of getting anywhere.

I have been on these forums for a while, but in the last migration lost my user details.

I have been playing WOW for a couple of weeks now, I managed to get a friend of mine in Canada to buy it for me, he them e-mailed me the authentication key (as I already had downloaded the iso images) and has posted me the cd's and the box. I registered online using South African details, and all were accepted and I'm paying my monthly fee via FND Credit Card. To date no problems!

I'm currently a lvl 17 Tuaren Shaman on the Stormrage server, the name is Pakunahan. I specialise in leatherworking and skinning. Any new players need a quide, feel free to look me up.

How many hours do you guys generally play? I bought warcraft 3 in january with the fierce notion im going to play it online, and havent even open the box yet.

Time flies when the whip is cracking. I wanna try and chillax so i'm looking for something to keep me occupied (girlfriends tend to be a bit too expensive for my taste, but then again, boobs is always a good thing. However, I find it easier to understand a game than a woman... ha!)

There are several players on the EU servers as far as I can remember, me being one of them. :D

I play about 20 hours a week. The wyf keeps it in check or I would find myself unbathed, unshaved sitting in my jocks playing 24/7 :p
