Also plans for a release of WoW in South Africa have been partially scrapped. A local server was planned but lack of interest meant it was pointless for blizzard. It will be released here on the 9th or so though and we will play on the UK servers.

Nope, it's the US version.

Useless [I think?] said he saw the US version @ BT Games and I've Digital Planet also confirm that it's the US version.

Check your email, you should have the cd keys. If you don't you can also check up on my site under your account for the details.

Next steps would be to get hold of the game. I have also sent you email on how to download the game from my ftp site, but I would suggest trying to find someone in your area and get the game from them. I will try get a few contact names in your area.

After that I would create your account on www.worldofwarcraft.com. If you have problems with it, part of my service is to help you and can use my credit card to create it. Let me know in email if you need help.

I have sent off you game today, but it takes 7-17 days to get to you. I would not wait that long to start.

cheers

NO "conning" required.

I used my South african addresses to signup with and had no problems doing so.

I don't mean to be pointed... but where did you get the info about Blizzard planning a local server? Do you honestly think they'd consider it before Australlia or New Zealand (where the game was released simultanesouly as in the USA)? They still have no server...

True, I also enquired and there are no plans at all. So if the game is sold locally then you will have to connect to the EU servers.

Unfortunatly not, the US gamecards do not work on EU. But if it gets released in SA and if it is the EU version, why could you not buy game cards from your local shop? I am personaly hoping they sell the US version so I can stop selling. So here is to holding thumbs again, that maybe on 27th Jan they do not extend the date again.

Cheers

I would say most of them are running the US version based on 2 facts. It was easier to get, and it was out first.

I have sold over 500 US copies to south africans, and I am not the only source. Guilds like FOA have 250+ south africans playing on US, and that is only one of the sa guilds (although the biggest)

Most of the people in the #wow irc channel on shadorfire.org are playing US.

Cheers

Thanks for the info...

I have 128kbps ISDN and was wondering what my latency would be like on the US server... :D

Well I have heard that isdn 128kbps is probably the best to play wow with. I think latency is about 500ms, which is very playable for a MMORPG.

Send me a message from my website below if you want a 10 day guest pass to try out the game. (If you have already got the game, or been playing on the emu's)

It's actually playable up to about 1200ms. You just have to have good timing if you play a caster :)
