You can copy the client, but cannot copy the server. Copying the server is a the violation.

'copying' a server means that you take a blizzard server and make an exact copy.
no private server is an exact copy, even if they want it to be they cant.
in fact most privates want to be different because some people dont particularly like the blizzard servers

Trinity and ManGOS servers, (the most common ones) are just alternatives to blizzard servers

Too true. Private servers are against the EULA of WoW and posting about it on a public forum is bound to get it reported. If you're breaking the law/agreement/whatever, you shouldn't shout it out to the whole world and then cry when you get caught.

As for the entire C++/SQL thing, you shouldn't have used an existing, copyrighted program. Rather do your own game engine.

There is a community in Wits that is interested in SQL development and C++
guess what
a WoW server is both of those
also students from UCT and UJ are interesting in this learning opportunity.

and because its a modern game, and a popular game the kids find it quite interesting and alot of students that aren't even doing Computer Science have joined that community because they like the game and now they have found a new interest in the games core and how it works

So the only thing that "the person" has done is disappoint lots of students as they have been working on SQL and C++ code almost all of the first term, and these holidays being quite long, they were going to present their work. but now they cant.

Job, you realise that its against EULA to play WoW unless you are playing on Blizzards servers, with a Blizzard account, paying them a monthly subscription?

I was told it's not avaliable in stores yet, I have tried downloading via bit torrents but they always time out and never recover. (anybody got a good bit torrent location)

U pay for a server that functions and a non buggy environment. Also, you don't run the risk of servers being brought down and losing all your chars/hardwork. I rate its totally worth it.

Recruiting Raider

Hi there

Im from the guild Booty Bay Dive Club, on Ragnaros.

We currently have 2 active 10man raiding groups, both moving into the HCs. Our current progression is 2/12 on HC.

However, recently we have lost one of our core raiders, so we are looking for a new dedicated raider to join up with our team for HCs in 5.3 and going into the upcoming patch being 5.4.
