I can't honestly say I've had a problem so far with raids on 64K, but admittedly much of my longer play sessions are left to the weekend when I connect at 128K. So I'm willing to accept you're right. ;p

Apologies for my original bluntness. =\

np :)

Yup, this wknd latency was good, what server are you on? I'm on Stormrage as Alliance, with the BEST Guild IMHO :) The Flames of Alundril!(sp?) :D

On Dragonmaw Alliance NE Druid. Guild Sentinels, all 5 of us

Any horde (Sorry Darric) players wanting to join a guild on Dunemaul can pm me, I currently run the Cut Throat Pirates guild there and would really like to have other South Africans in my guild.

Is that a european server? If it is I would be keen to create a horde character on that server.

WOW started crashing every few minutes or so after that small patch yesterday.
Fortunately, there are numerous forums to refer to in these cases.
I realised i was by no means unique with this prob.
This error actually came up during the testing phase, but they were unable to recreate the problem, so they've been unable to solve it. Numerous workarounds are listed by others affected.
It seems to be a sound issue, and the immediate fix would be to turn off the sound, not a good fix, lol.
Theres another one where someone has written an executible to solve the issue, but there are side effects, such as no "Friends" list, and no "General Chat", also a rather crappy solution imho.
I was able to solve it by d/l the very latest drivers for my creative audigy2 plat card. Don't know if it was a real fix or if i just got lucky, but no crashes after the update.
Another thing i noticed was that many of the victims of this crash had a combination of the nforce2 chipset and a TI4200 graph card installed, a large proportion, in fact, so i think there might be something to that.
I know that after installing the latest nvidia drivers, i no longer have the option of playing WOW in 1280x1024, not sure why, and i know i have to flash the bios, something i've been putting off for the last year, lol.
Anyway, this prob is not specific to to the mini patch, many have had it after installing any of the previous patches.
At least i'm on again, lol.

I had issues just after dl patch. It took me 3/4 times to get logged in as the game would crash  . Also everyone was naked . Did a few q in ZF only able to see one of my group mates. But I soldiered on and completed 3 quests. I hope they can resolve this bug soon.

That said played the whole today without any problems. Could have been a server side issue

howdy all,

i just got WoW and currently connect to the US Realm of Doomhammer, in the Night Elf town of Shadowsong with my lvl 4 Night Elf Hunter... i have an ISDN 128K connection and at night get around 400-800 ms... my ISP is Mweb.

Is there any way to improve this latency or is that the norm for us poor plebs to play from SA in US servers?

Hi Useless, I have the same setup as you, but play on the Europe server, and get better pings than that, consistantly. My gameplay is supersmooth, no hitches at all, even in populated cities like Ironforge.

You also dial with Mweb? If yes, what numbers do you dial?

I took a ranged fighter coz i knew of the latency issues, but havent really had horrible slowdowns. Game is very playable, though havent been online since BF2 came out... will try again this weekend. :)

I'm with Imaginet.
I also have ranged, neDruid lvl25, but the ranged thing falls away when u duel, or when u enter BGrounds. If you have bad latency, it'll nail u whether u have ranged or close quarters.
