World snooker championship 17 April to 4 May in the UK

Ronnie O'Sullivan recovered from 6-3 down to beat Ali Carter 10-7 and claim a record-extending eighth Masters title at Alexandra Palace in London.

Carter looked on course for a first Triple Crown title as he opened up a 5-3 lead after the first session and immediately extended his advantage when play resumed.

O'Sullivan reeled off three frames in a row to get back on level terms before Carter made his ninth century of the tournament in the 13th frame, breaking the record set by O'Sullivan in 2007 and 2009.

hopefully at the next World championships he can make it an eighth world champ title too

Carter and Ronnie have always had a crazy history - i remember a match in the 2018 World Championships where Ronnie actually body checked Carter because of a disagreement - and IMHO Carter always seems smug - so i remember thinking at that time that Carter deserved it .... many people dislike Ronnie BUT more people dislike Carter and IMHO rightly so

i just want him to reach to world his eighth Championship title so he can then indisputably be considered the Greatest Player to have held a snooker cue - he has Surpassed every record that any player including Stephen Hendry has ever held - though in terms of World Championships he could and should have had more (it was his lack of temperament that caused him to have as few as he did (when compared to the number of times he reached the finals) yet he is as Dennis Taylor says the only player that you could use the term genius for

i still think that Hossein Vaffei is a definite numpty as is Luca Brecel for saying that Ronnie should retire ...... Vaffei and Brecel are total ar5es even though Brecel won the last world champs - i have no respect for those two total cnuts because they don't respect what Ronnie has done for the game

 boy was i surprised to see this thread revived

watched a few of the matches, including semis and final. ROS did turn it up when he needed which was impressive. will be interesting to see how he goes in the WC as last time out he looked great then suddenly wilted.

was also nice to find people streaming it so I didnt have to VPN on BBC again.

The most bloodthirsty, violent event in snooker history.

you may mock .... but given how placid snooker actually is this shocked most people who saw it - in fact because of this Ali Carter developed the nick name "Mr Angry" since then

nowadays most snooker matches are live on Youtube - then they also leave it there for around a month after to stream whenever you like - if you want to watch 3 to 4 hour sessions ..... and thereafter users condense those and leave shortened and edited highlights

about the thread revival - there isn't any other snooker thread in this forum - so i reckon anytime that something of note happens in snooker you will find it being posted here

I haven’t watched snooker since this nailbiter, though you’ll be forgiven for thinking the bookies won here…

Ronnie let loose on him again.

yeah I have noticed that now as I watched a little of the Grand Prix final as well on Youtube.

I think I tried reviving this thread for the WC a couple years back and it was no dice lol

how was the Grand Prix semi final with Ronnie and Ding Jun Hui .... Ronnie won 6-1 and hit century breaks in 4 of those 6 frames that he won though that was nowhere near the best he has played BUT it was still a great standard for a 48 year old

heres a link to the edited highlights of that semi-final if anyone wants to watch the 4 centuries :

IMHO the best he has ever done was 5 centuries in 5 frames [including a 147 max in the 4th frame he won] in a best of 9 against (surprise) none other than Mr Angry himself (a certain Ali Carter)
