Yes, that might cause a slight delay.

Financing wouldn't be a problem, I think. Insurance might be a problem, though, since it is considered a high-performance car. You're not under 25 by any chance?

Im 21 :-S

Yeah, insurance is going to sting but that's down to the it being a 'hot hatch' and not a SEAT specifically.

With regards to odd parts, I was thinking more along the lines of body parts, suspension components etc. - not normal, serviceable parts that are mostly shared with the rest of the VW stable.

I'm looking for one now in fact. Insurance quotes were around R100/mo LESS than what they are for my ford focus 1.6 which is locally manufactured as far as I know.

I was looking at a similar one just with about 30000kms and was 150k. Insurance quotes on hippo were around 800. I'm 25.25 or so though... Hippo quotes are around R900 for my focus and I pay R625. Was paying R630 for it when I was 23.
Sites like that won't even give you a quote if you're under 25. My friend has an an IC TDI since 23 or so and when he bought it the best he could get was R1100 from outsurance. Then he somehow got the deal of the century and was paying R550 or so including household to PSG.

All of the above involves no putting it on your parents name kinda stuff. All "direct" quotes.

If im financing the car, the car will obviously be on my name. Is is possible to put the insurance on my parents name and make me the second driver? What are the cons of this?

The insurance companies might allow this but come claims stage they will do a proper investigation to try and junk your claim, at which stage you would lose all the premiums that you've paid, and, worst-case-scenario, they might charge you or your parents with fraud.

I'm surprised you haven't bought it yet. That's a great deal on a superb car. A 7yr/130000km plan for that price is as good as you will get anywhere.

Personally I'd stay FAR away from it....

But thats more because I never really liked SEAT's... and I wouldn't put it past VW dropping you like a hot potato one day, which will just suck.

having been in a SEAT cupra and ain a VW, I can say its totally different. I do however feel that SEAT have copied numerous styling cues from ALFA, but that's my opinion, and my dad's btw LOL...no beef.

I like the looks of SEAT...and their rare...as people are scared to buy em...I'm sure a VW part will fit, not so? Same as Fiat and Alfa...dude, everything fits lol...proven...I say test drive one, and speak to other SEAT owners and hear the good and the bad, and do some research...didnt' VW say they'll still support SEAT clients??? I stand under correction...I kinda like the early SEAT cupra's!
