As an aside on the Alfa resemblance... google one Mr. Walter da Silva. He penned the Alfa 156, 145, 146 & 147. He also designed the SEAT Leon... the hidden rear doorhandles are more a da Silva trademark than an Alfa characteristic.

At the end of it all, Avikage, you need to decide what you want your car to offer you.

SEATs are different to the norm, their an individualistic expression much like buying an Alfa would be. The buying motive is completely different from buying a Golf/Polo.

You will most likely have hiccups. But don't stare blindly at that if the car as a whole appeals to you. Some people find driving a necessary evil in getting from point A to point B. Some people genuinely like driving, and see their car as an extension of who they are. Which are you?

Then you better off getting some kind of VW or Toyota

LOL get this, bought my 03 147 2.0 TS for 100k with 57k on the clock + new engin...

Did a valuation at Arnold Chatz of the car with 70k on the clock now...lol - they offered me 40k!!!

And they'll sell it for 79k!!!

What a bunch of losers!!!

Hi Avikage,

I would like to agree with enigma243 - it depends on your motive for buying the car. If it is for driving pleasure, the go for it. If for practicality and intent on trading it in on an upgrade 2 years later, the don't.

Also see my post here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=3152246&postcount=64

Point I'm trying to make:

I loved driving an Alfa and don't regret it. So if you're okay with losing out a bit when it comes time to trade it in, then go for it.

Why buy a rebadged VW Polo ? Plus this is a sports model, 2nd hand they are like 40yo hookers - driven too hard too many times.
