Worth upgrading from older ADSL router for VDSL? (to improve upload speed)

I recently moved to an area with only DSL coverage. I got Afrihost's 20mbit pure DSL package, and I'm currently using it with my old Billion 7300W ADSL2+ router.

These are the stats I'm getting:

I'm mostly satisfied, but would upgrading to a more modern router improve my experience, especially my upload speed?
How good could my upload speed be?

Similarly have only DSL :(

Put in new VDSL line from Axxess (basically Afrihost) and getting 40/10

The existing ADSL was 20/1 after the upgrade recently and was always below par on upload , reason for putting in new line

VDSL Modem was R1000 ( seperate purchase) and new line was free on the offer

sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in on your stats

You're on the edge of ADSL2+, there is no cost difference monthly for VDSL, you'd need to weigh in on whether the one time modem upgrade is worth it to you, e.g. Faster Google photo uploads, streaming in discord, etc.

Personally I would do it, but that is due to my use case with work from home.

Ok, sounds like I might get an upload speed bump. Think I'm gonna go for it. Thank you!

I got a VDSL router, but it seems it still wants to sync to ADSL2+, when I manually changed to a VDSL mode it would not sync.

Am I doing something wrong, or is 20/1 the best I'll get no matter what?

Huh, the support rep I spoke to tells me it's not possible to make that change.

Is there an Afrihost rep who can give some more information? @AfriGuy @AfriFella ?

I can assist by logging it with Openserve.

Send me the number or your clientzone email via a private message for me to assist.

Got told the same by Axxess support today for a new line (cannot switch ADSL to VDSL - utter rubbish of course and yeah long weekend )

AS per the Openserve tech , any line not 40 Mbps will automatically be classed as ADSL

You should see a bump in upload speed when it is VDSL

Hi,

Yes unfortunately not all DSLAMs support VDSL and in such cases the max speed anyone can get on that exchange will be 20Mbps ADSL2+
