Would you buy a 2nd hand GPU that has been working on the mines?

Hi.

As the title says I am looking at buying a 2nd hand GPU.
There are many R9 270x & R9 280x ex miner cards on the market for good prices. They all have 1 year + warranty left.

Considering mining maxes out GPU's at 100% 24/7 do you think that are any long term negative consequences? Common sense tells me they won't last as long as a non-mined card due to the beating they get when mined.

The warranty does help ease that uncertainty but if the card is likely to die just after then I'm not that keen.

Would you buy one?

No, i wouldn't. They've experience much higher load for pretty much their entire life. Might be good for the remainder of the warranty, but I'd worry beyond that.

There is a good discussion on Carbonite about this in the Mining section, have a read through it for a more detailed explanation.

I am using a 2nd hand GFX card.
Things to do:

1) Clean the heatsinks after removing the fan, use shop air for this
2) Check the fan, and replace it if it seems not to turn smoothly. Also carefully clean the fan with shop air i.e. do NOT let the blades spin with the air as this will speed the fan up to insane speeds causing it to self-destruct.

I have an awesome Nvidia GFX card I got from someone because the fan died. Took me 1/2 an hour to clean and fix.

Thanks man. I have no qualms in buying 2nd had. Its the mining factor which is putting me off.

If the price is great, and it still has some warranty left, i'd go for it.
