He has organised for us to get together once before, and it ended very badly! ... now he says its different, argh.

Ah ok, I dunno Kitten! You would know him better than all of us on this forum. If he messed you about before, that makes it a whole lot different, but call me stupid, I like to believe in people, and maybe this time round he means it, maybe it is different. I still think you should rather take the chance and hear him out. Make it clear when you get there that you're only there because he said it was different and if it's not you are gone and he shouldn't bother contacting you ever again. You should be able to figure out whether he's serious or not rather quickly and whether this time is any different than the previous. From here you can at least then act accordingly.

In my experience I found that to keep grudges takes a continuous use of energy. Energy that I can use so much better on other things. So I would rather forgive them and forget them Not always easy but I found that in the end it works better for me and takes so much less time and energy.
If you do decide to go and meet him, play it safe and have somebody nearby just in case. Whatever you decide, I hope it goes well and that you at least can find peace.:)

True....but if all those that believe in people stop believing, what will be left of this world? ;)

My ex and I did the whole "talking" thing...it was telephonic...both ended up in tears. Now we are good friends.

It needs to be a mutual thing. If you are uncomfortable with it, then don't do it.

dude! you cried!? i dont believe it, thought you were one of the tough guys here!

No, it went terribly ... I can't believe I fell for his lies again. Again, and again, and again, and probably still to come. *sigh*

Argh Yikes! So sorry to hear this! I guess some people will never change and just never learn from their mistakes! But hey, karma's always watchful! ;)

Well, at least you can say in some confidence that you went with an open heart and open conscience to hear the guy out and he blew it!

Too late for apologies now and I hope you've made it clear to him, time to move on, forget and close the chapter! You've done all you could and you've been more than willing and generous on the matter! Your conscience are clean!

Well done on making the effort and being open and prepared to take that step! For that I look up to you and see you to be the better person!
