Would you 'resettle' in the US if Trump gave you refugee status?

On Friday 7 February 2024, United States President Donald Trump signed the following executive order: Addressing Egregious Actions of The Republic of South Africa

The order is against South Africa's recently enacted Expropriation Act, and outlines several orders to 'resettle' disfavoured minorities.

Two relevant sections include:

Sec. 2. Policy. It is the policy of the United States that, as long as South Africa continues these unjust and immoral practices that harm our Nation:
(b) the United States shall promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation.

Sec. 4. Refugee Resettlement and Other Humanitarian Considerations. The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take appropriate steps, consistent with law, to prioritize humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination. Such plan shall be submitted to the President through the Assistant to the President and Homeland Security Advisor.

hell to the yes, you'd be stupid to not take it, worlds biggest superpower, your be absolute idiots to refuse this generous offer.

yes it will be rough the 1st few years, yes it will be hard, 100% agree, America isnt for sissies or punks
but getting everything taken from you becuase of racisim is worse IMO.

It depends.

Obviously, the idea is to lead a better life. There is no point in becoming a refugee and being worse off than you are as an S.A. citizen.

If it is better for me and my family then yes. But I have too many questions (and not enough knowledge/information) around the rights and limitations on a refugee vs a citizen, my current property and investments and what would happen to that, and so on and so forth.

Not really an easy question to answer, yet.

For me, it’s no, but only because I have other options. I have a Euro passport. But for others who don’t, I can see how this option could make sense to get a fresh start.

If my business or home was expropriated, and I didn’t have a Euro passport, I would definitely take up this offer.

Question is, would you choose to move to Israel rather than the USA if given the opportunity?
*devils advocate*

I would not mind having a US green card and passport.

So if thing go tits up here, the US is a flight away. Also no need to wait 6 months for a gun license.
I don't think refugees can get firearms. There would have be some path towards citizenship.

You should go and then complain about it. You thought your move to the Cape would solve your problems, but it didn’t take long for you to start complaining about the Cape.

You’ll always chase the "greener grass," but you never do the hard work to make where you are better and work through things.
