People should grab the opportunity for the sake of their children.

They have an unemployment rate of like... what? 4%! Record low. Pretty soon they'll needs tons of minors to work in their mothballed Steel and Aluminium smelter all along the rust belt. Steady income, even if the cost of living gets a bit out of control due to the tariffs (meaning you're income as a parent will likely fall short of a living wage, and the sprogs will have to get busy, or bust). Not like they're going to just kill other industries to get more available workers for all that old jank.

Worsening public education prospects though. The same for public health. And occupational safety. Etc... But face it - Don't need major education to work in a smelter, and it's already pretty risky for blue collar workers even given public health benefits and occupational safety rights. So same diffs.

If they're especially lucky then they could do artisanal work on a contract basis. And if all else fails... They could always pick cotton. Big shortage in migrant workers looming on that front.

Altogether - A remarkable opportunity for the whole family.
