Would you send this Samsung LCD TV for repair

It is a 40" Samsung LA40D550 we bought for R5000 around 4-5 years ago.

Maybe get a free repair quote and see if its worth paying for or not.

Try a place called Mosfet computers in Pinelands. Had 1 or 2 repaired and pricing is very reasonable. They will do a free quote as well I think.

Doesn't look like the panel is hosed, so yes.

The controller boards are cheap(ish) should be part number BN41-01603C or BN41-01751A depending what panel is in there.

Took a look locally here in .cn, replacement board is about 250rmb, so probably 1000 odd in .za
Bit of a toss up whether to fix then, as a newish 40" set isn't that expensive.

I bought a 32 inch with same fault at a cheap price, but that fault goes away after few minutes and just a single line remains.

You are right, it improves until only a single horizontal black line remains, but we had to leave it on for the whole day to get to this stage

I'm leaning towards a new one, but my SO wants it repaired, because getting a new one means he will have to replace the wall bracket

Sounds like you should upgrade both the tv & SO
