Hey as long as they put everything back where they found it after they're done copying my possessions I'm not going to complain.

Can you provide some examples of consumers stealing something like a film or television series? I'm surprised they have the time and means to bypass the security systems. Frankly copyright infringement seems like a lot less hassle.
 
Not every actor, musician or anyone involved in making content makes big bucks.
 
Educated on what exactly? Not talking about pirating per se, but it is an alternative when content is unavailable due to reasons. To seek alternatives, that is educated. Then again, pirating may be an habit… talking to the hoarders.
 
Allow people to buy and watch the content they want and you would get rid of 90% of piracy.

Piracy exists because getting hold of decent content illegally is easier than getting it legally. The only reason for this is the numerous licenses that content producers put on their product.
There is a massive demand for the content, and content providers are artificially inflating their price by attempting to limit supply. This is silly as they would make more money by allowing anyone who wants to buy their product to buy their product.

HBO could flick a switch right now and give everyone in the world access to their content for $15 a month. Game of Thrones would get knocked off its perch as the most pirated show in a matter of weeks.
Make it accessible on a whole manner of devices and they would be able to stop the inevitable rise of Netflix in its tracks.

I'm educated( I think)
I pay for netflix, dstv, and I still pirate tv every day.
Either I get it quicker than dstv releases it, or I get whats not available.

Side note, I don't pirate software.. that's a different game
 
Nope. I would (and do) pirate less simply due to availability and convenience. If it's not available on Netflix or Showmax my only other avenue is Popcorntime

These actors and fat cats of the entertainment industry needs to come down from the pedestals and get right with me. Make videos on youtube like the rest of the world do and get a proper day job.
 
Isn't voting yes in this poll a little bit of a contradiction...?

yes, i would stop pirating if i new what went into the making of the media... but by saying yes, don't you already agree that you understand the massive process and effort it takes, but I'm claiming "uneducated" to justify my piracy?

This. For every rich famous actor, there's thousands just trying to get by. But people "think" they're educated.
