This is ridiculous! I got my copy of the whole WoW folder from a friend. It worked fully yesterday. Now I'm getting this massive patch to download, while I just heard from my friend that she only has to download 400mb. We have the exact same copy. Sigh

And Blizzard is all yadayada with us, saying the launcher detected corrupted data. In essence what they are actually saying is that this optimizer of them is a load of crap, as I'm pretty sure that's the thing that causes the issues.

Think the best is to get the whole folder from my friend again. Let her waste the work's cap :D

Sound like my friend, but just with D3. His D3 suddenly decided to download 3Gb again, and it's a copy of my folder, which doesn't need it.

Interestingly, my WoW folder at home is a copy of the one from work, but both needed only small patches to update.

Maybe your friend left their background downloader open after or during when they were playing last week or even before then as it already downloaded a massive part of it, think it was around 5gb or something.
Then on patch day it could of downloaded the remaining 400mb that the patch needed ?

Well, latro stated that he had done the 6Gb download, which is the first part that has been available for the last two weeks. The final part for him is 4Gb.

I also downloaded the 6Gb, but I only need about 500Mb to finish the patch.

One thing I just remembered. I downloaded the full 6Gb at work, and then copied my whole WoW folder to my home pc.

If you havent already loggged in all of your characters I suggest you do so as alot of achievements have changed to being across one account and not per character :D
Shot up to 11500 points now and still have a ton to do before MoP comes out.
Also enjoying the new combat text style that Blizzard done :D

I haven't had much time last night to look around in the new patch, just logged in on 2 of my characters, but I havent logged on to the one that did most of the Cata mints, so still have to do that one.

When do we get the shared mounts over all characters? Or is that not happening anymore?

The shared mount are already in. But it looks like you have to log in to the character that bought that mount to get it available for all characters. Looks to be the same for the achievements.

I also think that the achievements for number of PvP kills is counted account-wide as well, and does so as you log into characters. I got the 25000 kills achievement yesterday after logging into a character that didn't do much pvp.

One nice bonus that isn't included in the patch notes is that the weekly cap for guild rep/experience has been removed :)

Oh and I finally hit 100 mounts on my main thanks for Blizzard including the MoP deluxe edition items in the patch.

Any thoughts on the new scenarios they are bringing in?

What I like is no more queueing for my mage (sometimes it just makes you depressed to queue for 20 mins)
And it sounds like a nice change of pace and makes me think of tactics you would use more in raids (where you actually have to concentrate and not just pew pew pew :p

Also, my mates are gloating about Guild Wars 2 where the holy trinity(heals, tanks, dps) is nowhere to be found, and now we have the same sort of thing available and I think a bit more variety to spice up an already great game :p

I absolutely love this new patch. My shaman is so imba in pvp :D It was pathetic before the patch, now he is just broken.

Quick question I can not remember how it worked previously, when MoP launches, do you need to install the CD that you receive? I like most have a copied client up-to-date.

You can install from the CD, but it's not necessary if you already have an up to date client. CD install are for fresh installs of the game.

There will likely be another patch on launch for current clients, containing some of the bug fixes that Blizz has worked on since 5.0.4 released.
