Logged in this morning at about 5h45 with no problems. Created my Monk and started levelling before having to go to work. Will continue tonight. So far it's pretty awesome, I love the new scenery!

Almost got my monk to 10. Serious issue with Blizzard and OpenGL though. The arrow on my map to show me where I am is no longer there. Apparently this is because of lazy development from Blizzard for OpenGL. So if you play on Mac or Linux like I do... expect to have issues.

To get around this I have installed Carbonite. Problem is this addon is not updated to MOP yet, so I had to add a hacked plugin to it to get it to kinda work. I say kinda because not all the quests are listed.

Got online yesterday around 17:30 played until 23:00, everything was stable no lag and MS was a steady 193-200
Manged to get to 86 and 43% away from 87.
Questing area was crowed quite badly so made it difficult to complete certain quests that had a horrible respawn timer.

Imagine how easy your life would be if you just ran windows on the computer you play your games on. No sane person would dedicate any significant resources to fix bugs for a platform that less than 1% of their subscriber base play on.

Or keep kicking against the spikes, whatever floats your goat.

I feel your pain. Amazing how quickly one becomes dependant on certain game elements. Gone are the days of alt-tabbing out of game to check thottbot.com for quest help.

Some of us live in hope for a non-Windows orientated game industry. It wouldn't be that hard to do either.

There are more than enough games playable on Mac and Linux to keep me entertained. Especially indie games, I heart indie games.

Yeah I was kinda flabbergasted as well where you have to kill some monkey diver for the captain's quest log. every single other mob on the map spawns instantly after you kill it, but a mob that you actually need a quest item off spawns once every 3 millenia and has a army of players waiting for it to spawn.

Otherwise though this expansion has been a pleasant surprise for me, I struggled to get going as my main char of old only had the ****test of green gear and I kept getting owned by the start area mobs :S So off I went to AH and bought myself some MoP greens and from there I had to issues nuking everything down. As soon as the quest rewards came rolling in my DPS sky rocketed, which is handy indeed for racing through the quests.

OpenGL can be played on Windows, Mac and Linux. IE, 100% of the gaming computers out there. They will of course fix this, or their large mac user base will not be able to play.

I dont expect you to understand what we are talking about.

Damn that's a long way down memory lane. Fortunately everything needed for questing is in the stock standard UI these days.

No I'm sure there are a few games that you can play on linux, if you want to go through the painstaking effort of getting linux to do what you want like any normal consumer product, but when some issue pops up you're gonna be stuck like our friend ghoti where nobody really cares while everything hums along on their windows PC's.

And I think you are mistaken, it will be an epically monumental process to change the game industry to non-windows. In fact you might as well try to move mountains with your bare hands.

Haha, this is right after Steam says they will be developing for linux because of the abortion that is windows 8. lol :D

PS, I didnt need to hack or do anything special to play wow on linux. I copy across the game files and double click on the exe. If people cant handle that they shouldnt be gaming. Cause its that easy :)

Didn't I just tell you less than 1% of the wow subscriber base play on a non-windows PC ? That isn't large, it's insignificant, and that's cool, just keep in mind that you are gonna have a bad time.

You can spin it any way you like son, the fact is that I have zero issues on my awesome windows PC, while you are only able to quest after hacking your client and the main difference in the equation is the OS : windows > linux > mac.

Shooting yourself in the foot also isn't anything special, just take a gun, aim it at your foot and pull the trigger.

Oh really, because the devs and moderators from Blizzard (according to forum posts) put the numbers from 6-14% on mac. I think Ill take their opinion over yours.

Thats because you hardly do anything with it. With Linux I can have two games running, and a video playing at full screen with no issues with my different screens. I dont get the same experience with windows. I also cant handle Windows software rot and the terrible file system you guys play on. But different strokes.

That was without a doubt the dumbest argument I have ever seen on this forum. Congrats.

Suuuuure. As you said yourself though, nothing factual only opinions.

That would've been absolutely splendid if you were capable of playing 2 games, say BF3 and WoW and watch a movie simultaneously... The thing is, you're not and you won't ever be, so I cannot imagine why you would even bother typing that out.

Regardless of what a human is capable of though, it's almost like the hardware's capabilities aren't even a factor with linux! You could run any amount of instances of anything at 50 - 60fps solid at max settings, the only limiting factor is the amount of displays you can fit into your room, that is some hot **** bro!

And please, anybody that has a decent PC has a SSD inside, which effectively nullifies what you so eloquently describe as "software rot". And are you 100% sure you know what a FS is ?

Software rot has nothing to do with the hardware....

I know what a FS is, Ive been working in IT longer than you. This is why I know that I dont have the lame fragmentation levels you have ;) I hope you are not a pc techie :( I was actually gaming last week on a PC before windows and the nvidia driver broke, and wow would not play. I just couldnt be bothered to waste more time fixing windows. If I need it, Ill reinstall it, but right now I dont. I would play bf3 but I got bored of it. I often have HON and WOW open at the same time. I guess I use my PC differently to you :)
