Last week I got ISDN2a installed at my house... forget the fact it took forever to activate the InfinitCall and get the ISP setup...
Initially, while waiting for Telkom to finish their stuff, I tried connecting with my father's Telkomsa 56k dial-up account, which worked, and even allowed me to connect at 128k. The pings to WoW-EU were between 800 and 1000 regardless of time of day (and I was on holiday and playing until around 6am).
Yesterday I decided to finally push them to get the ISDN 64k connection (which also allows me to connect at 128k), and it happened within about 3 hours. I tried it last night, and the ping only ever got bad when I downloaded a video clip in the background. After that it settled down to its (hopefully standard) ping of between 400 and 600.
So why is it that a 56k account works at a worse ping, to the same 08600 number, than a 64k? Is it simply digital vs analog? or? And, um, is Telkom actually aware that their system allows you to connect at whatever speed you like? (based on your hardware)
