so which one do you prefer and why ?

wow vanilla would be my choice; imho the expansions somehow have taken out what wow was all about- for example the quickness in which one can reach lvl 60+. I must however confess that i somehow liked TBC draenei shamans was nice :).

I missed the whole Classic wow scene.

But I will admit that I loved TBC more than WoTLK. And the size of raids in Classic just seems nasty.

TBC is my pick.

The size? Thats what made it so awesome :) 40 people trying to down ragnaros and then wiping cause 2 healers didnt run left during phase changeover was classic :p I would much rather do a 40man then 25/10. Classic ftw (havnt tried wotlk yet)

I prefer wow before WoTLK coz raiding was a challenge and pvp was awesome. Everything is just a zergfest atm :(

I am not a huge raider and I only started playing just before BC so I would argue that the BC era was my favourite. I would have prefered if we had got WotLK as the first expansion pack because I don't really like outland (with the exception of Nagrand) but they have made levelling a bit too easy now.

I can't comment on raids or PVP due to experience, only on quests.

Classic WoW quests tend to be very bland to me. There are some quest lines that are a bit interesting, but overall, the quests become rather boring.

In the expansions, the quests are more interesting. I enjoyed playing the Draenei starting quests, whereas the Nightelves were boring and was just a rush to get to lvl20. The DK starting quests have a really interesting storyline.

So in terms of questing, I prefer the expansions.

Hrm, it's a tough call for me. I have many fond memories of Vanilla Raiding and leveling my first char to 60 but on the other hand BC was also really good because I understood the game a lot better and I was able to enjoy a wider variety of classes in Raids.

Wrath..... I'm actually very disappointed in at the moment.
The Leveling was far far better and more interesting then BC or Vanilla (I just leveled another char from 1 to 66 recently so I'm revisiting my old Haunts) but the current Raiding content isn't enough.
More and more Raiders are losing interest because apart from the really hard Achievements, Raiding is eeeeezimode now.
There are no more C'thuns. I actually miss spending weeks wiping on a Boss before downing him.

I started WoW just after TBC was released so can't comment on the classic WoW.

TBC was better than WotLK though =/ Everyhing just looks wrong...

I hate Death Knights, I hate the way the instances look like some Sci-Fi scene in a movie. I hate those motorbikes and I hate Paladins >.<

Pre-tbc for me.

It wasn't a mad rush to powerlevel. Having just 1 piece of t3 made you stand out in the crowd (and dedicated to your guild). Doing 20 and 40 man raids... hell even getting enough for 40 man was fun :p Listening to our dutch RL talk about standing in the potion (he couldn't say poison) for Hakkar. Trying new tactics on bosses (Our MT tanked Garr + all his adds once). The epic quest chains taking you around the world (Quel'Serrar, Key to Ony's lair)... I miss vanilla :(

I love DK's. Not because my Main is one, but because there is nothing quite as sweet as ganking the living poop out of them while I'm leveling my Pally.

They think they're all that in Outland till they meet someone who knows how to handle them, then they're corpse running... a lot.

Some quick comments, probably think of a hundred more.

Classic wow - less frenetic, quests were hard, leveling was hard and raiding insanely hard- never got near Naxx. So a piece of T3 was like gold, truly epic. Looking back content was a bit bland, but you have to see it for what it was. SM and Schola my favourites.

TBC - Improved questing and instancing . Some areas were great some not so, Attunements were hard in the beginning, Heroic dungeons were hard before badges. Badge gear and nerfing slowly destroyed TBC. But I guess its about money and this brought the crowds!

Loved Kara, still my favourite place remember going in there in blues (there were no welfare epics) and getting horse wiped by first adds, still remember Grom's axe dropping still have it in the Bank.

Wotlk - Epic questing, story lines etc, brilliant part of the game have you ever looked at the detail in Grizzly hills. I really enjoyed leveling my 2nd toon after the crowds had rushed through.

But leveling was a joke probably died 5 times in 10 levels from Dc's more than anything. Instances are a joke and Naxx is a bigger joke. Its ugly, empty and bosses are basic to say the least, there is bad lag it full of bugs and the entire 11 million wow population are there every night.

I though Shat sucked as a city but Dalaran is worse lagging and small - fail on this one

Overall TBC is the one for me, feel I am drifting from the game and don't think Uldar will change much, the masses have spoken with there wallets.

Vanilla for me as it was all new at the time. New places to explore, seeing your first ally / horde, not quite sure if you could pull that mob as a single, getting lost numerous times.

Although I love being able to fly I think flying lessened the game for me. Nothing like seeing a 60 ally chasing after me, popping invis and dash and trying to avoid him whilst going /yell KEK!

Why not make a poll for this? Would be good to see tbh.

For me, for a million and 1 reasons, it would be TBC. And BT. And Sunwell.

O

M

G

Sunwell.

I loved that place. It really seperated the top end people from the rest (yes I like being at the top :) )

I agree that having more people see content is awesome, I really do. But for those who give everything and want to be THE best, Sunwell was the place to be. And everything before that in TBC. WOTLK has nothing like this now. And I have my doubts if it will.

But hey, WOTLK is awesome, good relaxing fun. But I don't get that sense of achievement of killing Brutallus 8sec into enrage or stacking haste to such an extent that I could Astral Recall in 5.6sec.

Man.. tough decision

I think vanilla WoW will always be epic to me. Warriors were OP, epic quest lines for attunement. Fond memories of getting 40 people stepping into Molten Core the first time, spending weeks wiping on Raggy. Having that epic feeling have finally downing him.. Man.. And then came BWL.. Now that was something on another level.

Never got to see Naxx, TBC came about 2 weeks after we had downed Nefarian..

TBC was fun, instances were great. There was a definate PvE progression scale. Something which is lacking in Wrath, Naxx 25 is a joke. Everyone and their grandmother were rolling Blood Elf Paladins, grrrr the classes that made the Alliance infamous for 14 year old kiddies, now they were rolling Horde.. Warriors were medicore..

Wrath came, the questing lines were epic.. And well that's the only good thing I can say about Wrath. DK's are the new Warriors, Warriors don't even exist anymore. Dunno why I'm still playing mine. PvP is broken, Naxx 25 is a joke and retarded. There's no definate PvE progression. I mean like MC > BWL > Naxx in Vanilla. Jewelcrafting is just OP, there's nothing for Blacksmiths/Leatherworkers/Tailorers in terms of BoP Items.

Blacksmithing was epic in TBC, you could specialise in Swords/Maces/Axes and get epic BoP stuff. Other crafting professions the same. Come wrath and it's useless. Jewelcrafting is the only profession to have a daily quest where they can make 400g a day depending on what server.. There's absolutely nothing for the other professions.

I would say my favourite would be Vanilla, then TBC, then this excuse for an expansion with a blue background.

By the way it's going, it seems the next expansion is gonna be even more retarded than Wrath.. *shudders*

*edit*

After 3 and a half years the second part to my bindings dropped for Thunderfury.. Gief automatic upgrade of legendary weapons each expansion

i'm still in the opinion that blizzard should have rather had the blood elves, draenei and dk's as their own faction with no true allegiance to either horde or alliance...

Would have been a great idea Necuno, but I guess to complicated to bring into the game in which the factions have become less and less relevant- group hugs in Dalaran.
