to BeLgaRiOn:

voda customer care has a ring-back effort, quite nifty, as i find waiting a f-cking waste of time:)

push # while u wait & hang up. they phone u back when an operator is available. otherwise u wait 4 hrs...
You need to [post=604268]read this post - before attempting to use Vodacom's # callback...[/post]should be the same with 111.

While I don't read all the threads about all of the ADSL ISPs, I have seen a number of complaint threads about WA, all of which have turned out to not be WA's fault - quite impressive customer service & support - as well as WA's active presence on MyADSL, but to be balanced & fair, I have seen similar from OpenWeb as well...

My 2c worth about WebAfrica:
Been trying to get hold of them for the past week - emails to sales and support at webafrica.co.za asking fairly technical questions got no replies. Tried requesting a callback yesterday morning to see how their pre-sales service is. Eventually phoned them today - not much information there (whichi is why I didn't want to phone sales in the first place). I'll try another ISP.

Hi HvRooyen,

Could you perhaps pm me the details of the tickets you sent through as well as who you may have spoken to on the phone so that we can take a further look as to why either a) you had received no replies or b) you had received insufficient information regarding your queries. The tickets you sent in (specifically their ID's) would help greatly.

We have already identified your problems regarding the callback you requested and have already addressed it with the person(s) involved.

To be fair:
Got a call 25 minutes after my previous post above - matter resolved. It seems their change of offices took its toll on email as well. I can now understand why myadsl members are so positive about their service. Account created, confirmatory emails already in my inbox.
Thanks Jason!

ato put my 2c in there, also moved to WA from SAOL. Had some security issues with SAOL.

Only thing I'd recommend WA do is add bandwidth usage per port/ip to their web interface...

Maybe i need to come here with my problem aswell, signed up for web hosting with them. Received an invoice within 30mins and 24hours later after 2 support tickets sent i still have no activated service or support replies. Today wasnt a public holiday was it?

I too have picked up problems - firstly I chose WA because of the positivity on this forum, and I signed up for hosting (waited 24hrs for an invoice) and paid on Friday night, but am still waiting to be activated. I have been in email contact with a lady called Mariet, she says they have problems with their billing system - giving no eta on my further waiting time.
Mmmm.... very frustrating. If I had known in advance I would have probably gone elsewhere.

I would strongly suggest not posting hosting related issues on this forum, as this is an ADSL related board and not web hosting. Our ADSL and Hosting systems are completely separate and are managed differently and would suggest that if you are looking for hosting related support that it be taken to either *our* forums (http://forums.webafrica.co.za/) or alternatively handled through our standard support channels.

Our hosting staff does not check this forum.

What happened to sorting out the issue with the company directly. A forum shouldn't be used for that purposes. Yes, give us feedback so we all know. But sort the actual problem out in the correct way.

warichard, I ask forgiveness from you and all forum members for my inadvertently inappropriate post. Nothing like being told off on your first post to a forum!
A previous poster (dabouncer) had also had problems related to hosting, and was offered help - therefore I enthusiastically joined in.
PearlJam, I have already had a number of email exchanges with the company, but it is still not fixed - I am just told sorry for the inconvenience.
Please note that the general public do not realise that WA is so compartmentalised - I simply see it as an ISP offering a variety of services, and assume that a billing problem will be a factor in any service ordered. I saw my present problem as a reflection on the entire ISP - and a factor to be taken into account when switching ADSL providers, as I will be doing at the end of the month.

Hi linuxgal,

My apologies for seeming too harsh or aggressive with regards to my response, but we feel it's necessary to nip the bringing of support queries to this forum in the bud before people get the idea that this is an official support channel for both our ADSL and Hosting services.

While we do participate on this forum as far as ADSL is concerned (as it is one of our largest services we offer and also the focus of this forum), we do still frown upon it being used as a support outlet as we already have proper channels for this purpose (such as e-mail, telephone and our own forums). While we do get the occasional ADSL support query here, and accept it as a part of participating on these forums, hosting is really not something that should be covered here (until we have a MyHosting forum - or am I giving people ideas here?). If anything you should rather have attempted to contact Jason via the e-mail address he provided to see if he could help resolve the situation through official/proper channels.

I've gotten him to contact you and hopefully everything can be sorted out appropriately.

I've personally recommended all my friends to WA, 4 of them I know moved over in the last month and ALL of them are so happy. Every support ticket I have sent in has always been answered quickly, some times TO damn quick since I'm doing other things, and feel obliged, to check up on them when I get the SMS's telling me about it.

Would seem to me that 99% of the problems posted here have occured during the last week while WA have been moving and have had problems with Telkom installations of Phone lines and so on, All of which have been cleared up.. Right away and from the time stamps above, with in 30 min to 3 hours (and granted that the 3 hour one was posted at 6:13 PM)

If anyone can give me the name of a company that gives that service or better.. let me know because I dont know of any.

Thanks WA, Of course you know now that everyone is going to expect service like that all the time, even if nobody else can
