Well I'm getting one as soon as I can get my hands on an uncapped account. No way I'm paying R400 to R600 for a game. If uncapped bandwidth becomes a reality I will buy myself an Xbox 360, mod it and download the games.:D

You think this will knock Sony's plans for the PS3? When are they planning on launching it anyway?

I think, well thought, the PS3 would retail for R4500 at launch, now I don't know so much with the Xbox at R3700. Does anybody remember what the PS2 launched at?

Please man the prices are fantastic, our games are cheaper than the UK.

Man this site is full of whiners...

Maestr0 lets see how long you enjoy Xbox Live for when you account is canned for modding the box. Nab, I still prefer to walk into a shop on my way home and pick up a game there. No ordering, no duties just pick 'n pay

FYI, currently there is a software mod to enable the xbox360 to play Back-up games. In the UK there are a few web services that the do the soft mod for you for £25-£35. Also, there are no fewer than 20 games available on isohunt.com.

Pity that microsoft will be selling the entry level at 10% more than UK retailers and 15% more than the EU retailers.

XBOX360 is a decent piece of equipment but I fear that although it being late in launch the PS3 will take it hands down on graphics and storage...we'll see.

That's my point GavinMannion, except where you save a couple of days and spend more money I have saved a couple of months while picking one up on the way back from Thailand :)

Games in SA are cheaper than in the UK? Realy?
Give me a price and a game from an SA retailer and I'll compare it to UK prices. Hard to believe.

WRT, you prefer to walk into a shop and pick 'n pay.....this all depends on how much spare cash you have to spend on games. If you are rolling in it good for you, some are not.

Not a chance, the PS3 is way over priced. XBOX 360 deserves to dominate the SA market.. Launching before PS3 and priced way BELOW PS3.

The only thing the PS3 has going for it is blue ray, and blue ray is meaningless for 99.99999999999% of the SA population, and most of the world.

The games are going to cost a fortune for PS3, again, as the discs are blue ray. You can pick up XBOX 360 games for R265!

If you're into football, FIFA 2007 and Pro EVO are exclusive to xbox 360 for the next year.

Sony doesnt have the game advantage over Microsoft anymore.. They dont have the price advantage.

As much as people hate Microsoft, they doing a great job in the console war... And they've given us a great alternative to the sony rip off(price perspective)..

OK, then how much is a PS3?

Please name the SA retailer that is selling the XBOX360 games for R265.

You forgot to mention that the PS3 graphics are better than XBOX360s.
edit: just to add, bigger hard drive, blue ray. No dissing XBOX360, as I have one, but you pay for what the product offers. To make my point, blue ray is not just for games but for movies in HD, so instead of forking out R5000 for a Blue Ray Disc player PS3 already has one. And that's why PS3 is more expensive.

btgames.co.za will have games for R265, granted not all the games are that price, some are slightly higher, but still the games at that price are far from junk..

The PS3 isnt going to be cheap.. we all know that, and its priced way above the xbox 360 in dollars... it'll be the same case in rands.

Who cares about blue ray when only the very rich can benefit from it currently.. even movie wise.. and it will be that way for a long time to come..

And with who says blue ray is going to be a success?

Atleast MS is giving you the option of buying an external HD DVD player for your xbox instead of forcing it down your throat.

I seriously doubt that Stuff magazine had a PS3 before Sony had one?
They did not have one for the biggest game expo in the world because they lent it to a magazine to review?

Just search google for "PS3 not ready" and see what is happening with that one

My internet is dying at the office but last time I checked the RRP for Xbox 360 games in the UK is 45 pound?

45 * 13 = R585

80% of our games will cost R485 making that a saving of R100.

What don't tell me this is the first time you have heard of Rip off Britain?

Do you have a link or a scan to that Stuff magazine review by any chance?

That's brill, all 3 games (2 are classified under the platinum range) sell for R269, the rest range between R435 and R539. These are normal prices, nothing brilliant about them. Your term slightly means 70-90& higher.

The PS3 isnt going to be cheap.. we all know that, and its priced way above the xbox 360 in dollars... it'll be the same case in rands.

No it ain't going to be cheap but in terms of affordability neither is the XBOX360. Again, you get what you pay for. The PS3 is going to be more expensive because is has BlueRay, bigger hard drive, better graphics etc.

Who cares about blue ray when only the very rich can benefit from it currently.. even movie wise.. and it will be that way for a long time to come..
Who cares? Well obviously not you. Mate you make no sense! If you cannot afford to buy a car, you catch a lift or take a bus!

Atleast MS is giving you the option of buying an external HD DVD player for your xbox instead of forcing it down your throat.
Partially right, but that option will put the xbox360 equally or there about priced with the PS3. Secondly, I'd prefer the option to be build in rather than having and extra box next to it. Sony is giving you a product, if you like it you buy it, but that all depends if you can afford it. :)

ooh someone bombed about the Stuff claim :)

Okay I made a mistake my telkom courier pigeon just got back from play.com and the Xbox 360 games seemed to have dropped in price to 39.99

BUT our exchange rate is actually 13.50 to the pound SO we are only R60 cheaper... Damn... It sucks to sit in the sun and save money :)

In absolute terms slightly or not at all. In relative terms they are much more expensive. And people in the UK are being overcharged relative to the US prices.

You disable the mod when you're playing online.

I prefer to save hundreds of rands through a tiny bit of patience.

oh yeah the ps3 is going to be priced at R6400-R6800, and games are going to cost R600 - R1000 as sony is not officially supported in this country and they cant cut costs down for a small region like us unlike Microsoft SA
