Hi All

I want to buy an Xbox One, however I don't have access to massive amounts of internet at home.

Is it still worth buying a Xbox One, if I had to go to the shops and buy games would they still work?

Thanks in advance.

Games will work but you usually won't be able to use any online features until you update the game...

And updates are often over a gig each?

I also want to get an XBOX one for the LastBornMoose, can I download these updates at work (Faster connection) and then bring them home and apply manually?

That strategy won't work for either XB1 or PS4. Game downloads are always present and usually quite big. Playing without them, if the game lets you, won't make for a great experience as they are mostly about fixing issues. Gaming in general relies on having decent internet nowadays.

Most big budget games have critical day one updates btw, so always assume playing new games without a connection won't be happening.

Definitely don't waste your money with this unless there is somewhere you can very regularly take your console to process updates. Maybe spend the money upgrading your internet and doing some indie PC gaming instead.

You could if you took the console to work, connected it to a screen and Internet and then ran the updates.

you will need a 2gb update on start up, so you must have internet in the beginning.
honestly, if you get the xbox one x then its a no brainer, and even the xbox one s is going cheap now with a free game, so its much cheaper than ps4 as well as the fact that you have a 4k player as a bonus.
then there is the controller. best controller ever made... research it fi you dont believe me...
