Will see if the prices are as ridiculous as Evetech's daylight robbery of the new GPUs.

seems those evetech pricings are the amounts on other retailers as well ... so the robbery likely further up the value chain ...

if the same logic applies a 499usd console will be R15 499k ... which i hope is not the case ...

Quick search for currency conversion and adding in the typical 20% - 30% SA markup gives you

Series S $299 = R5000, about R6000 to R6500
Series X $499 = R8350, about R10000 to R11000

Was budgeting for R12000 so hopefully it lands under that, but we don't know what our excellent currency is going to get up to... or down to, in the next couple of months

If they can keep it around the R9 to under R10k range then they will have a winner.

I'm still undecided on whether I should upgrade from my One X to the next gen(ps5 or series x)or not,the main pull will probably be the faster load times due to the SSD for me personally.

At R9k to R10k though it would be a no brainer and I'd go for one of them.

Its a roughly 30% import tax

Since MS is the one doing the distribution locally they can actually lower the prices for the local market while historical Sony has been distributed by Sterkinekor in South Africa so the PS5 could an additional mark-up over and above the 30% import duty we have on all electronics

Yes the Xbox One X retailed in USA for $499 and was priced locally between R6k on special to R8,5k out of special,so we can hope they follow suit with that pricing locally.

Very much keen on the Series S. On a budget and appears that it will do the job just fine.

Watch the XSS turn out to sell 3x as much as the XSX

Yeesh Microsoft have got to get a handle on their naming conventions.

I don't know why people keep going on about Evetech's prices, or why MyBB gave them so much free exposure.

No one should be buying anything from Evetech or giving a damn about their prices. Their GPUs have always been overpriced and no one expected good pricing for the 30-series. Just forget about them.

Wootware will be a proper indication of local pricing, and the best value will come from Palit and Zotac which they are bringing in.

Interesting if it using the same DLS like the XSX is rumoured to have, the average non gamer will probably not be able to tell the difference between both consoles video outputs
