South Africans have to understand the "political necessity" to accept refugees in the country, Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula said on Tuesday.
What astounds me is that the government doesn't realise they are causing this situation. In a country where there is 26% unemployment refugees from Zimbabwe are flooding into S.A. They essentially take jobs, commit crimes and become a problem for the local population. This breeda xenophobia.
Mbeki's reluctance to do anything about Zimbabwe is fuelling the situation, yet the government claims that accepting these refugees is a necessity. Its a human rights tragedy, but Mbeki is too cowardly to admit to that.
