“What we are trying to do is to remove inflammatory commentary.

So silence the critics?

Whats the point if Leaders and kings cannot keep their mouths shut and fuel the flames by inciting the masses?

“We’re not trying to censor any content online,” Qoza told Fin24.

“What we are trying to do is to remove inflammatory commentary.

“This process is going to rely on the participation of society for it to be successful,” he added.

A good start would be taking www.anc.org.za and www.ancyl.org.za offline, thereafter introduce the EFF and other political parties to an Internet blackout.

Great, MyBB mods have not done a great job of discouraging racism in News and Current affairs. I welcome this.

Why must a mod do it? Member A post a idiotic remark. Member B refutes it. MyBB leave both remarks there. What's the problem?

I think media needs to be verified, removing it will just make it more popular. Streisand effect much?

Member C quotes member B's refutation
Member A and B's post gets deleted
Member C's post (with the now deleted content) remains
Member D posts in thread
Member D has a warning issued for "derailing the thread" - which is really from left-field (spot the pun)

All remarks are not left there, threads are locked for "derailment" three posts after the only substantive content discussion
This is the most sinister of censorship that there is

And it is the most dangerous.

how is that derailment - take a look at the Italy Navy thread - - pages of off topicness then a page of discussion, 3 off topic posts and a lock

perfectly illustrative of the problem

Most of the OT and derailment is your posts.

But who is going to censor speeches done at rallies?
Who is going to erase the words from peoples minds afterwards?

Erasing/deleting content is not going to do much. People that tend to get incited to violence is not going to be stopped from doing so because they don't read about it. Politicians opening their mouths causes greater damage than online content.

This has got nothing to do with xenophobia, this has everything to do with people criticizing government. Everything negative against government is seen as racism by them. They will use this to prevent negative publication against them.

oh please...somebody in government going to be paid to monitor the internet to ensure compliance? FU
gov can't even get proper internet to most people.

gov should rather do their fkn jobs and create a country where communities dont get to the point where they feel threatened by foreigners for their livelyhood.
and also rather encourage their counterparts in other countries' governments, to create an environment where the foreigners will want to stay in their own land, instead of running down here
