Newer models will likely be priced double of current models.

Look at the price difference between the Mi4 and Mi5.

Aliexpress with exchange worked out R3000 for the 32 GB version with goodes excluding custom fees. If you've a problem with the phone you flushing it down the toilet cause shipping back will cost a fortune

Buyer's remorse if ever I've had it...it's now R500 cheaper than what I paid for mine :(

Know how you feel, got my wifes a month ago and it was R2899, looking at it now it makes it an incredibly good bargain.

I just took mine with FNB. Okay, at the end its around 4k. But im not too fussed with it, as im pay R169 a month. Ill eventually sell it in a year and a bit from now, and get something else. But its a darn good device for the price Takealot has it at now. Be warned though, grab it now at R2399, because tomorrow it will be back to R2899 knowing that company.

But me personally, im happy having taken it with FNB, due to me banking with them, ebucks etc

What's the screen quality like on the Redmi Note 2? More importantly are the colours deep or is it grey-ish with the black?

Very good, decent PPI (401 IIRC), vivid colours although slightly towards the colder end of the colour temperature scale. The colours aren't AMOLED in brilliance but they seem to fare well compared to others in the price class. Sunlight legibility isn't all that great though

If you look at what is out there for R2399, then you wil do well to find a handset with the specs of the Redmi Note 2

Indeed. Even at R2999 I doubt you will find something similar. At the moment I'm using a Xperia E4 so the Redmi Note 2 would be twice the step up from QHD entry level IPS.

Thanks. I've seen you can tune the colour. From the video's of the Redmi Note 2 I've watched on the internet, I've found this to be on par with the P8 Lite which I've originally being interested in.

My only gripe is that the battery life isn't too good IMHO. Otherwise it is a fantastic phone worth close to 2x the money paid for it :)

My opinion is that the battery life isn't good nor is it bad really it's about par for the course.

What's reading mode? Have seen it. Never used it. What's one handed mode?
There is a setting she puts it on in the display settings, it seems to remove the blue from the screen. It makes it look almost like a kindle.

Ah yes, reading mode.

I have it enabled for Chrome, WhatsApp and Tapatalk and it seems to make a pretty big difference. You can really see the difference when you've been on an app with reading mode on for a half hour or so and then switch to one without it enabled

It's like F.lux for Android :)

OT: surely there must be an app that can emulate it

EDIT: I see an app called Twilight on the Play Store

/goes off to test
