Get it from DX at just less than R6k, incl free delivery(slow), exl whatever duties is levied.

Has anyone bought phones from these sites?

1. The prices always look good compared to local prices, but don't want to be surprised by extra charges from customs.

2. is it better to just pay extra for courier/shipping? i dont know if i should trust the post office.

I bought a phone from geekbuying before, but had a problem when it broke.
shipping is free, but you'll have to pay additional customs.

I will wait for the contract prices and decide!

What does the addtional customs usually work out to as a % of the price of the phone?

DX shopping and shipping works 100%, but yes, free shipping to SAPO is slow, worth it if you are patient.
You can track it all the way with track-codes.
You can pay extra and get it quick with courier option, but it is a few hundred R's extra.

Done both a few times, including phones.

Customs is customs. It should not be the deciding factor.

Yeah really wish we could get covers here easily, my wife just keeps dropping this phone so the front bezel has got a few chips in it :-(

I cut up a tablet screen protector for the front, nicked the edges to get it to fit, and for the back I cut up a transparent printing vinyl and wrapped it around the back cover.

Jay Go Go is in China Mall, Crown Mines, Jhb.
They keep covers for the Mi4, and the Note 2
Spoke to the guy. Screen protectors on the way but a current version can be remodeled to fit.

Hope that helps.
