I just got Xiaomi's new action camera, the Yi 2 4K. Absolutely amazing! Better than the GoPro Hero 4 black at half the price ( just under R4000 with waterproof housing). It's basically the upgraded version of the chipsets that the Hero 4 uses but with a 2.2" LCD, double the battery life, and gyro stabiliser.

Where do you buy that camera?

Aliexpress. I've been importing and reselling action cams for 2 years now. This blows everything else away, but the brand is too unknown to sell well here unless they do some serious marketing.

Cool!

Why would Takealot have the Redmi Note 3 up for R3799 while the better equipped Redmi Pro 3 is only 3299? Pre order special or what?

Iin some instances the Redmi Note 3 is better than the Redmi Pro 3 (5.5" vs 5.0" display [personal preference though], 1080p vs 720p screen res, Snapdragon 650 vs 616, dual-band wifi, dual tone flash to name a few) even though it is an older device.

The only benefit in favour of the Pro 3 I can see by comparing the two on GSMarena is that the Redmi Pro 3 has 3GB of RAM while the Note 3 has a 16GB variant with only 2GB of RAM and an older version of MIUI.

Given the choice I would spend the extra bucks and push for the Note instead.

Comparison below:

The Redmi 3 Pro (3GB/32GB) is on pre order at Takealot for R3299:

For the life of me I can't understand why gold is the only colour they're bringing in.

Hope they expand the range soon.

OK, so that is not the Redmi PRO, it is actually the Redmi Note 3 32GB/3GB edition......

But it is priced cheaper than the 16GB/2GB version...

Think there's some confusion, I'll try clear it up.

Redmi Note 3 2GB/16GB @ R3800

Redmi 3 Pro 3GB/32GB @R3300

Comparison:

I'm going with the Redmi 3 Pro solely due to the 32GB of internal storage.

The other specs on the Note 3 are better I'm almost every department (CPU, screen, camera, etc) but there's no way I'd manage with 16GB of storage.

These phones are also completely different from the Redmi PRO announced the other day.

Agreed. More storage is required for a lot of apps and ram

Eish, ja I see Tapatalk butchered it.

Edit: I see it's only for students who get 10% off the Redmi Note 2, Redmi Pro 2 and Redmi Note 3. But I think it has been mentioned in this thread previously

Only issue I've encountered with the Note 2 so far is the back panel which could've been of a better durability. It's similar to my old S3. Battery life is not a train smash but as a high end smart phone a few extra hours would be awesome.

Basically sold and won't go back to Samsung/iPhone.

Will take the MiMax as soon as it's available.

Got my Mi5

Transferring stuff over. Surprisingly not too excited, as it's the same as Mi3 with dual sim, 4g, 32gb storage , and 3gb ram instead of 2.

Transferred my sms and WhatsApp already. When am done with all the apps I will factory reset the Mi3 and use it as backup phone
