Just fiddling with it now.works well actually. Almost like magic

I just pick up the phone and put my thumb on the button and it unlocks immediately. I wonder how secure it is?

Probably secure enough for the average end-user but I wouldn't put state secrets or nuclear launch codes on my Xiaomi any time soon

I'm keenly awaiting my Mi Band 2 to arrive as I am getting a bit tired of putting in my PIN every time I unlock my phone which is probably nearly 200 times a day

Only issue I've encountered with the Note 2 so far is the back panel which could've been of a better durability. It's similar to my old S3. Battery life is not a train smash but as a high end smart phone a few extra hours would be awesome.

Basically sold and won't go back to Samsung/iPhone.

Will take the MiMax as soon as it's available.

Get a slim case. It's silky soft but quite strong.

I see its back in stock now.

Anyone with a Redmi 3/Note 3? I'm sure we'd all appreciate some feedback on how the phone performs.

I really want the Redmi 3, but not a fan of the gold colour. Will wait a few weeks to see if MIA brings in the black or silver.

My Redmi Note 2 is still on Android 5.1 but every so often Xiaomi rolls out MIUI updates which pulls features from higher versions of Android.

After bout 2 weeks of use, I can also report that the fingerprint scanner is excellent. I did a side by side comparison with the Iphone 6+, and the time it takes to unlock is pretty much identical.

Other things to note - so far the battery life is above what I expected. I am a heavy user - I use lots of battery intensive apps and GPS, and thus far, I haven't had a day where I had to charge mid day. Charging times with the factory charger and cable is also VERY fast.

Agree with all of this.

Fingerprint unlock very fast, and have added key fingerprints from both hands

Charging time extremely fast. When trying to charge using powerbank, the powerbank warms up as the power draw is high

Battery life - ok, not spectacular. Oddly enough the drain seems to be the roughly same when there is high usage or low usage. Might not persist with 2 sims to see how that affects battery life

Has anyone experienced LTE issues, specifically with MTN? I read on the web that the cheaper Redmi model was having some LTE issues on MTN. I thought this was odd as MTN have it listed in their brochure with LTE.

There is a Takealot reviewer who said he/she went through 3 handsets where they could not receive calls on MTN LTE..... :-/

Redmi 3 is meant to be cheaper than the Redmi Note 3 .

My Mi5 screen orientation doesn't switch. So it doesn't rotate at all when I turn the screen. Seems to be a knowm issue, with no real solution
