Question regarding using a flash drive to expand memory...
I bought a USB hub and flash drive to format as device memory. When I check storage via the settings it still shows up separately but if I go to the device memory there is an option to move apps to it. Did I perhaps do something? The reason I ask is because when I tried to do the update it showed not enough space. Any tips would be welcome.
I use CE LINK USB Ethernet hub to expand memory , while it does show separate via setting, most of the apps move to the formatted SD memory. I bought a 32 GB memory and that is the internal storage I have, all the apps I download they install on the expanded memory. It works more like your smart phone with expandable storage. I use MIBOX 3 , I hope that helps

Thanks. Is there a way to see where the apps are being installed? I got the Orico 4-port hub and a 32gb SanDisk flash drive. When I formatted the drive it asked if I wanted to move the apps to it and I said yes but there is only a few hundred MB of available space on the box.

I moved to LAN Cable via USB device last week. Speed was much better than on WiFi, however I did have the issue that every time I switch on the Mi, network speed was terrible on LAN, and had to reboot to fix.
Installed the latest update last night, and tested this morning:
1. Remote power on only requires one press of the button
2. LAN speed seems normal after switching on

So the latest update seems to fix my two issues I had. Will test more over the weekend.
Oh, I did a factory reset after installing the update

Hi - is anybody else having wifi issues through a range extender considering all the recent updates - I hope to get my S box next week so would like to know what I am in for !
I'm still battling even using the range extender and an ethernet cable.

Still need to reset the router like once a day.

Not filling me with joy.

I've had my Mi Box S for about 2 months now and luckily I've had no wifi problems so far. It's connected via the 5Ghz band and is about 2 meters from my router.

I've had my MiBox for about 3 years now and never had any Wi-Fi issues. It's connected via 2.4Ghz band and is in an adjacent room to the router

I'm not sure if the poor WiFi connection on the Mi Box S is due to the Netis range extender not playing nicely with it.

But I also couldn't get the Mi Box 3 which is downstairs and right next to the router to work reliably on WiFi either. It works perfectly now because it's connected over ethernet with an adapter.

I’ve also not had any WIFI issues with either 2Ghz or 5Ghz.
I got the original Mibox

On settings, (Storage & Reset) you should be able to have these options, Internal shared storage, being your Box storage and SanDisk USB drive, being your formatted SAN Disk storage. Press on the SAN Disk option and you will be able to see the size of the apps on that Disk. You wont see which apps are installed but every time you install a new app, it should install on the removable storage DISK and not your Box's one. Do bear in mind that some apps are inherently installed on your BOX and cannot be migrated to the removable storage. I am not sure why your BOX have only few MB left . I currently have 812 MB used space on the removable storage with a 30GB available storage on the same SAN Disk ( a 32 GB) . My BOX has 2.5GB used storage (apps that did not migrate) with a 3.0GB storage available. This available storage is no longer getting used though. Total space on my BOX is 5.6 GB . Hope this is now clear.

Thanks. I had a look and only 2 apps are installed on the SanDisk drive. I have about 500mb left on the mibox. I am thinking of uninstalling the apps I installed and see where they go when I install them again. The apps installed are Netflix, Dstv, deezer, youtube kids, Spotify, crunchyroll, analiti, kodi, vlc, x-plore, mx player, file linked and the pre-installed Google apps

Also received it, it sorts out the wake up problem and stability fix for the Bluetooth remote. Also something about Netflix.
It also appears to have fixed another issue I had, where playing something over local network freezes eventually. Not happening at present. Also dont think its a temperature issue as I checked on days that had the same temp (hotter than 25 degrees).

Anyone seen ads with the latest android tv update?

The Verge: Google patches ads into Android TV home screens without warning.
https://www.theverge.com/2019/4/5/1...ony-tv-nvidia-shield-xiaomi-sponsored-channel

https://www.xda-developers.com/android-tv-sponsored-posts-launcher/

No ads but there was a an app line which some out there claimed cannot be removed and may be used to serve ads etc. For now we are good atleast on the Mi Box until they make a permanent change similar to amazon and fire tv and showcasing their titles or basically advertising their stuff on the top row.
