^ Thx

Damn, that's almost like me ... get the USB right way round on the 5th try :X3:

EDIT: would have helped if the guy actually had a tongue to explain, but nonetheless, that looks like a wifi dongle thingy he connected for the controller?? ....
my USB port is in use, so I would prefer a BT option ??

Well, The XBOX One (Non BT controller) does not work\
Neither does the PS4 controller. :/

Set up the Mi box s yesterday all looks great - everything working ! :)
Just one small issue - the white power led is very faint when it comes on and sometimes is does not come on at all - although this does not effect the great performance of the s box

Never got round to it last night but the "dongle thingy" is the reciever you get with the control if you buy it for Windows pc

Mine still works.
Figured it out. After the update it stopped working. So went to the app within the mibox, cleared data and voila. Working again. Just an FYI for those who might experience a similar issue.

My mi box 3 packed up, the TV screen just went all black, so I returned it to Incredible Connection and after 4 weeks they refunded me because they were out of stock and there was none available. I now ordered the mi box S from PC Link computers and have to wait as there is also nothing available. It is however on backorder......
Wish me luck.

I moved to LAN Cable via USB device last week. Speed was much better than on WiFi, however I did have the issue that every time I switch on the Mi, network speed was terrible on LAN, and had to reboot to fix.
Installed the latest update last night, and tested this morning:
1. Remote power on only requires one press of the button
2. LAN speed seems normal after switching on

So the latest update seems to fix my two issues I had. Will test more over the weekend.
Oh, I did a factory reset after installing the update

Yeah, so the joy was short lived :(
Switch on the Mi this morning, no issue with the box responding, however network test shows zero speed. Reboot the box and speed to normal ... I wonder if there is an issue with the USB port when switching on ...

Ok...so after all the latest updates its iffy on the 5GHz wifi signal...shows connected but upon playing something I get "no internet connection" yet wifi shows connected. Unplugged power...same thing. Unplug again and switched to 2.4GHz...all is fine...strange, it work quite fine on 5GHz band up until updates yesterday

i tried kodi but plex works best for me ... on the PC utorrent rss auto downloads and moves to movies / series etc, when putting on the mibox plex automatically picks up the latest movies / episodes, and after watching can delete from the mibox itself if necessary

i don't see the benefit of transferring the files to the mibox - even over wifi the content plays without any issues for me
So I gave Kodi another try, and I'm starting to see a few benefits over Plex.

It's great when traveling. It's a much simpler setup if media is only being accessed from one screen, simply plug in a hard drive loaded with movies and it pulls in info from the internet to show a nice movie poster wall view etc.

It's also much more customisable than Plex, being able to change views and menu options etc.

Keeping Plex server / media PC off saves a bit of electricity too.

There is no real reason to use Plex if you're just one person or just one device that's being used, that's what Kodi is for, if you have multiple devices and users then you go Plex.

Yeah that sums it up well

I have a family of 4 with everyone wanting to watch on multiple TV's, iPads, phones, etc so Plex worked well for that.

However I connected a spare hard drive to each tv's mibox to have the option of Kodi as well.

Kodi is also great in non Plex homes for when Data runs out and YouTube / Netflix is no longer an option until the new month

I wish I could use Plex to its full potential, other people that have super fast upload uncapped internet share their Plex server with their entire family and friends.

Then they have programs running where your users can request stuff that then automatically downloads and another program used to monitor your usage has a newsletter feature, so you set it for say once a week it sends an email out to all your shared users with a list of all the new stuff added that week etc.

I'm regularly tempted to get a Plex pass when the occasional lifetime subscription of about $75 pops up ... Mainly for the offline sync feature for holidays etc.

However I always end up using the free Infuse app on the iPad which does a similar job of copying movies from Plex server to iPad internal storage over WiFi for offline watching.
