Hey all,

I just bought a box from Kloppers, plugged it into my Pioneer receiver and 1080p Samsung TV. It then went straight into updating itself to Oreo, as well as updating all apps.
I however have a (what seems to be a common problem) with Netflix in that it stops playing after 10-15sec with the tvq-100 (5.2.5) error, when trying to play a movie, or certain series (Star Trek Discovery for instance works perfectly in FHD, DD+ etc).
I've tried taking the Pioneer out of the loop and connecting directly to the TV, I've tried factory reset, connecting to other monitors, changing HDMI cables, etc. DRMinfo always reports HDCP as unprotected.
Anything else I could possibly try before taking the unit back to Kloppers?

Go into Google Play and update Netflix app as it may have not auto updated. I had to manually update Netflix to get it to behave

So as of this morning DSTV now won't play any video... Why does this only happen when I invite half the town to come watch the rugby by us?

Fortunately I could hook up a laptop to the TV, butt so unnecessary.

My home one is on Oreo
My office one is still on Nougat since I got it - hasn't auto updated.

What's the verdict - stick on Nougat or update to Oreo?

I am taking my office one with on a week's timeshare next week and am concerned the thing will auto update when connected to my mifi/phone and kill a few GB's of data, so I am wondering if I should just do the update now on uncapped?

Surely you can google for the release notes, or go back in this thread?

Yeah, that is possible, it is also possible to say, that the YouTube bug, or the reported DSTV issue, have been fix, a whole lot more meaningful communication.

Will check the the notes when I finish work, and have to.e and am able. Thanks for your contribution.

Anyone else getting lip sync issues with certain apps? The most prominent being that of Terrarium TV.
That and a couple other apps start buffering after some time of use.

The above is fixed once the unit is rebooted. But after a couple hours the problem returns.

Yes this has been a problem for me since before the Oreo update, I get it with DSTVNow, TerrariumTv and Showbox, it's very annoying.

Just ordered mine from Takealot. If I do my initial setup on my TV then once it's set up, move it over to my receiver/home theatre setup, will I need to setup again?

I also have the issue. If I stop the movie and restart it, it fixes the sync for a while.

You get what you pay for, I guess. But even in that case I used to have much cheaper droid boxes which didn't have these type of issues.

Do they support Oreo, same apps and features as the Mi Box, or do they have their own issues and limitations? Very much, a "You get what you pay for" situation.

Spot on. Though in this case some of these issues are a deal-breaker.
Bells and whistles operating on buggy software.

They put out updates regularly enough so, buggy software will be fixed ... , and not fall by the wayside ... as fast.

Hi bought my box from Kloppers too. Everything worked except Netflix. The same tvq-pm-100 (5.2.5) error. My box arrived with Marshmallow (Android 6.0.1) and Netflix didnt work. I tried a variety of setups, resets, etc but could not get Netflix to work. DRM Info reported unprotected too. I then upgraded to Orea (Android 8.0.0) but that didnt solve anything. I made sure my Netflix app is up to date. Nothing wants to play on Netflix. Plays 10-15 seconds and it stops. I tried this on a variety of TVs (from old to new) as well as different HDMI cables. DRM Info continues to report HDCP unprotected.

Today I called Kloppers and besides a few general tips (all of which I tried) the only other thing they told me was that they got confirmation from the suppliers that Android 8.0.0 is "too new" for the Mi Box and that I should not upgrade. That seems a bit silly, especially since the box gives you the option and surely they tested it before releasing it. Whichever way my Netflix didnt work on Android 6.0.1 either so that's definitely not my issue. Reading up online some sources suggest faulty hardware.

I sent my box back to Kloppers. They told me they'll send me a replacement device. However before I made the phone call I mailed them and got a different response in that the device should go to their repair center, that they are aware of the issue and that they need to flash firmware on my existing device. So i'm unsure at this point whether I'll get a new device (which I'd prefer as I still think the hardware is faulty) or whether they are simply going to downgrade my device, in which case I know it wont work as I tried it on Android 6.0.1. Downgrading also seems risky. I've read many people have attempted to downgrade themselves and while they succeeded this lost their serial no and DRM info, rendering the box useless to Netflix and other services. If they do end up doing that I hope they know what they are doing as there is no official downgrade path from 8.0.0 to 6.0.1.

Xperia - Please let me now your experience with Kloppers and whether you succeed. Netflix was one of the primary reasons I bought this device and without that I'm not really seeing the point in having it as my previous "Google Cast only" worked fine. I just wanted a better TV experience without the need of a tablet to control what's playing on the TV.
