So returning my Mi. After updating, it is useless. Kodi and YouTube crashes without errors back to home. I notice a slight stutter when playing any video. My replacement will only run 6.0 for now and hopefully no issues.

My previous MiBox (the one that had the HDCP fault) had the Wifi disconnect issue on Android Oreo (8.0.0). I'm not sure whether it's related to Oreo or just that the box was faulty in general. I've read online that a few people had issues with Wifi dropping on the updated Android Orea (8.0.0). My replacement box is running the original Android Marshmallow (6.0.1) and have no Wifi drops whatsoever. I'm not going to update again as the updated 8.0.0 seems to create more issues than fixes.

Also - You can still use Ethernet on the Mi Box. There is one USB port. You can use a USB to Ethernet adapter. I've tried this and it works great. If you require more USB ports just get a USB hub. In fact Takealot sells USB hubs that already include an ethernet adapter and they are quite cheap.

When you use the USB to ethernet, is it plug and play, or do I need to disable wifi?

Cannot get mine to connect to the ethernet

Go to developers options. Turn off USB debugging. Maybe that will work for you.

Thanks, if that doesn't work, does it mean the adapter I bought is not compatible?

I would assume so yeah. The one I plugged in (J5 Create JUE130 USB 3.0 adapter) worked alongside Wifi without any settings. Granted this was when I used Oreo. Since I received my replacement device I've not tried it on Marshmallow but can't imagine it wont work.

This weekend I used the Mi Box (now running Marshmallow) extensively. My Netflix is stable, but started getting random popups with "VUDU has stopped working". At the same time I also noticed YouTube randomly freezes. The app stops working completely, it just freezes. I had to reboot to get it to work again, after which it just continued to freeze again. I uninstalled VUDU and all the other apps that come with the Mi Box (that typically dont work in SA). YouTube seems fine again.

I also discovered yesterday that HDMI CEC does not work in Marshmallow, something I really wanted. This worked great in Oreo, but of course I was advised not to upgrade to Oreo and hence HDMI CEC wont work.

I'm really getting to the point where I dont think I'll recommend this box to anyone. It just doesn't feel like a stable box. Maybe Oreo fixes some of this, but I've also read many issues with Oreo and was also advised to not upgrade to Orea. So it's a catch 22, run older Android and deal with issues or upgrade and risk other things breaking without a path for downgrade again.

Ok, maybe I must do the upgrade and see what happens then. Are you happy with Oreo, nothing weird happening that will stop you from doing it again?

Quite strange, my CEC integration worked better after the oreo update.

No I meant i'm NOT on Oreo anymore. I had a faulty Mi Box and at the time I had it on Oreo. I was advised by the company I bought it from to NOT upgrade to Oreo due to so many issues with Oreo. So for now I'm back on Marshmallow (a replacement Mi Box). So I havent tested that specific USB device on Marshmallow. I can do that tonight.

Well I'm on Marshmallow. I was on Oreo on my faulty Mi Box and CEC integration worked great. But now that i'm on a replacement Mi Box running Marshmallow there is no CEC settings and it doesn't work. It sounds like it was added on Oreo, which I'm to scared to upgrade to again.

So CEC worked on marshmallow as well, but didn't do the one key power on, etc.

I did have to flip a setting on my Sony TV to allow arrow keys to work, even on marshmallow. What TV do you have?

Ah sorry I didnt know that. I was looking specifically for the one key power on which as you stated doesnt work in Marshmallow. O well!

Hi guys,

Got my mi box delivered,

I've updated all the apps and system to the latest available version.

Now testing it and wifi keeps disconnecting and speeds are terrible,

Any fixes for this?

Did you update to Oreo? That's a known problem on Oreo and no downgrade unfortunately.

Yes I'm on oreo now. Is there any workaround?

What are you guys doing with this issue to continue using the box?
