Hi all

I'm on the verge of returning this box for a refund now,

This box is so inconsistent, at times it works brilliantly and other times it's unusable in terms of DSTV now playback and at times youtube as well. I've fiddled around with my router settings as well but get full speeds on my phone but never on the mibox.

I'm thinking of getting the usb ethernet adapter as a last attempt, or should I just go back to the plug and play reliable Explora.

Please let me know your thoughts and the most affordable options for the adapter as I don't want to waste more money on this box

Thanks

Between me, my family and friends we have about 10 Mi boxes between us and haven't heard anything like this, which makes me think its either your i-net(too slow or losing connection), your equipment (router/distance to router), a faulty mi-box or corrupt software(maybe try a system restore).

That's the reason why I'm trying so hard to get this to work based on all the positive reviews,

Internet speed is fibre @20mbps from MWEB

Router is single band Zyxel supplied by MWEB
No issues on phones and tablets with full speeds, only Mibox

I'm on my 3rd Mibox so this one can't be faulty and I'm still on MM did not upgrade

Does anyone know of a simple way to set the MiBox to sleep/shut down after say 60mins/90mins.
I can set my tv to sleep (switch off) in 60/90mins but the MiBox is still streaming all night when the tv is off.

Settings > ScreenSaver > Put device to sleep

Yes it's only a single band 2.4Ghz router,

Would the ethernet option eliminate this issue?

It should improve the situation, difficult to say if it would solve all your problems,

I am on 2.4GHz, and I lose nearly 20% speed over a distance of 12 meters, with a wall in between. 10mbs ADSL line, but once streaming, it holds up. A Dlink DSL G225 router 300 mbs N class wifi.

Is anybody perhaps having intermittent issues with their remote? I find that randomly when I switch the box on, the remote just will not respond - the little light on the box doesn't even flash when pressing the buttons. I hard restart the box and then the remote works fine. Anyone else have anything similar?

I can't speak as to DSTV Now, that could be the app itself. Never the most reliable.
In any case, try the USB to Ethernet adapter. If that doesn't work you could always return it.
There are cheaper ones out there but the one I bought is this one: https://www.takealot.com/ce-link-us...-hub-with-gigabit-ethernet-switc/PLID47903656
It works perfectly for me.

I just got this and Mibox not picking it up.

Lights are on and flicker on the adaptor, switched off the wifi and doesnt connect. Are there any other settings?

The USB ports work perfectly.

Go to developers options..turn off USB debugging . See if that does the trick.

How do you know you're connected via Ethernet and not wifi?

Nope.

Can you still stream when wifi is turned off?

I just checked a YouTube video, and the guy disabled WiFi, and then the Ethernet setting said Unconnected (USB hub was already plunged in). Then he plugged in the RJ45 and it said Connected...

My interface looks completely different. From my homepage when i click on network settings it just has the wifi option.
Is 'ethernet' always there or only appears when you plug in the adapter without plugging in the ethernet cable, as in the video.

Yes, I have been having this issue lately myself. What is the solution. I always have to restart the box for the remote to pair again
