This phone looks crazy:
  • 1.5ghz Snapdragon dual core SOC with Adreno 220
  • 1gb ram/4gb rom
  • 1930mAH battery
  • 4" 480x854 screen
  • Unlocked bootloader
  • 8mp camera
  • Approx $310

I don't suppose there's any chance we'll be seeing this in RSA anytime in the foreseeable future?

I'm a bit confused about the price. The Engadget link shows it as ￥1900 = $310, but like you say ￥1900 is = r190. Don't suppose someone can clarify? Obviously there's no realistic way they can set the price to r190.

You're right, thought it can't be that cheap. But still 2k for those specs is dirt cheap!

Oh it's actually Yuan not Yen. Sheesh /slaps forehead.
So 1 Chinese yuan = 0.1566 U.S. dollars; ￥1999 = R2248.65

Ok glad that mystery is cleared up. This phone still looks killer.

I just noticed the similarity is all.

Edit: BTW, 1930 mAH battery and "MI-Button (Customisable button for application of your choice)" seem pretty cool.
One brave soul should try grab one of those and tell us all what its like!

This looks awesome! My SGS is still chugging away quite happily, but I've got a contract expiring in October, which will see me lugging both the SGS 1 and 2 along with me. If I can get hold of one of these phones I'll happily buy one as well.

The fact that it runs MIUI just seals the deal for me - I've been an avid MIUI supporter for months now and I'm currently rocking Galnet MIUI Twooey III on my SGS. All other custom / official ROMs pale in comparison to it's ease of use and elegant design.

Yeah it's also selling out in China already... even before release they had like 200,000 preorders. Chances of getting one are slim at least for a few months now.

Good luck in trying. They have 300 000 back orders already and stopped accepting new orders for now.

Xiaomi order page(main source of phones) did not allow for shipping outside of China, so you will have to rely on other channels or companies reselling the phone.

I would say you will have to wait till January at least before you can go hunting for one.

had a feeling you would say that....meh. My hd2 does the trick for now.
