As per title.

I just looked through my contract statement, and every few days R1.50 is debited to my account. I a quick search on Google tells me that it might be because Xiaomi phones try to log into an SMS account system based in China. It sends an sms every time you lose wifi, or restart or something, which then costs R1.50

Just a heads up. I'm curious as to whether anyone else has noticed this.

If this has been brought up in a thread, my apologies.

YIP, I lost R3 when my phone tried to activate "Find my phone" twice on my Telkom Mobile sim. As soon as I realised that, I disabled the feature. Play store device manager does it for mahala! Pretty annoyed about the R3 deduction - oh well!

I'm running miui 8. I've disabled the mi account, which should work.

@ FlashSA I've been debited R9 or something so far, it's quite an odd little thing. At first I thought it was a wasp thing, but Googled the number which the SMS is sent to and lots of threads popped up.

Happens on Chinese rom or Global...
On the Chinese one, it was trying to authenticate my phone numbers on every reboot. I noticed this because my Telkom sim has sms disabled, and so was giving an error on that authentication.

When I changed to global sim. This no longer occurs, or the error no longer displays.

On my Vodacom sim, when I look at the itemised billing, these international sms stopped when I changed to the global firmware. I know this because I hardly make any outgoing calls or use data on this sim, so the last 10 transactions were all sms which ended a couple of weeks ago
