hi - got an 80 gig disk - being a cautious UNIX type I created a 30gig primary partition and left the rest of the space unallocated.

Now running out of space on my C: drive, how do I add space to the partition?

TIA

Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ Computer Management

Go to Disk Management

The additional space on the physical drive should be shown as unallocated. Right click and format.

If you want to add to C:, you have to use something like Partition Magic.

[edit]
Might also be able to do this using diskpart (extend parameter), but I'm not sure of the usage.

Aye to the GParted LiveCD: I used it on my D: partition to swallow up the space I'd been keeping to one side, and it worked a treat.

Probably a fine app, that one would have to buy at some co$$$t ..GParted is FOSS: rather a lot easier on the wallet and can be downloaded, burnt to CD and used in one laughably easy trifecta.

I have used Partition Magic many times in the past. It is OK.

But I do not trust it anymore.
Seen some strange things happen with that program.
Be warned.

Busy downloading GParted at the moment.
Not that I have anything to partition, but will try it soon enough.
