So, I've bitten the damned bullet and put DSTV into the rental cottage on my property to increase its desirability.
Since I'm paying the antichrists already, I may as well benefit from it in the main house as well.
So...
Those cheapo HD DSTV decoders... I can link 2 of them, right?
Can they use separate dishes?
And what kind of cable do I need for a heartbeat?

Thanks.

Can they use separate dishes? -- Yes - but work out costs unless you Already have the dishes may be cheaper to have a twin or smart LNB on 1 dish
And what kind of cable do I need for a heartbeat? - same cable you will use from the LNB To the Dish (Coaxial Cable RG6 or similar) - just note the cable cant be more then a certain amount of length - dnt quote me but i think 25-30m long

Can they use separate dishes? Yes, but why? You're going to need to connect them via a heartbeat cable anyway. You might as well connect them to the same dish using a dual LNB
And what kind of cable do I need for a heartbeat? Same cable as that between dish and decoders

Thanks.

Thanks, so coax cable.
I have two dishes already (OVHD in the main house), so don't want to go dual lnb/extra wiring if I can avoid it.
So I just need to run a coax from main AV cabinet to cottage and obtain another HD decoder.

Thanks.

You will also need some beers to cool you off when you phone DSTV to enable the whole lot.
