I though I would post this here as the helpdesk has been useless with this topic.

Using a 3g vodacom data card the Yahoo mail site is frequently not operating correctly the page will not load script correctly will not display correctly and sending mail doesn't work.

I believe it is a problem with vodacoms proxy servers. The only way we can fix it is by dialing on GPRS through a phone with no user name or password. This seems to reset the proxied information. The 3g connection can now be used until the proxy stuffs up again and the process must then be repeated.

Yahoo mail works fine on ADSL and dial up. So the problem is not with Yahoo.

The all temparary internet files were removed on the laptop so local caching is not a problem.

The process:
with 3g it didn't work so tryed dialup - worked fine ->afterwards tryed 3g didn't work - Dial in gprs on laptop didn't work - dial in with gprs from phone worked - dail in with 3g from latop did work.

BTW 3g signal strength is brilliant and all other sites work fine.

The last time i checked it was still working but please change the nessacary proxy storage settings to prevent the recurrence (it will happen again)

I've got my yahoo mail set up through my outlook express because I also has a problem on the yahoo mail site sending e-mails. But the mail sending problem also happens on a normal dial-up connection.

Tried on other pcs as well and on different accounts. One guy at work was trying to send attachments through the web yahoo mail site but as soon it had uploaded and you tried to return to your e-mail it had disappeared as well as the attachment. Tried it a few times - same problem. This was using a dial - up connection. Sometimes also when just sending e-mails the email disappears and returns to the blank blocks.

That's why I use outlook express. You don't have any problems sending yahoo e-mails through outlook express.

Also had this problem with Yahoo. Kept on asking me to log in. Sometimes it helped to clear the cookies and restart the browser, other times it didn't. Similar problem with GMail. Doesn't want to delete or send any mail. Seems to indicate a browser incompatibility problem when using a proxy and ssl. Any chance the people having the problems are using vlive? If not then simply disabling the proxy gives you what you pay for and solves the problem.

I had a similar problem with Opera. Affected cookies/smilies/VBulletin Disappeared with Firefox. Also remember Yahoo are busy upgrading their e-mail system.

Its a proxy problem (with vodacom) the cache is not been updated timely.
If they fix that for yahoo mail then it will fix the problem.
But how the heck do you get to the guys in vodacom that can do this, its almost impossible? Thats why I posted here.

Haven't had the same problem through mweb (dial up) or axxess (ADSL) or iburst.

It is a proxy problem, but it's much more likely the ssl and not an updating problem. Just use it without the proxy.

Its a transparent proxy so unless I got another proxy how can I bypass it?

If it's transparent then how do you know it's there? I only got this problem when specifically using a proxy. What most people refer to as a transparent proxy is just the server relaying your request to the website. This happens on all connections and it doesn't store the data you receive so the idea that it isn't updating correctly sounds funny to me. I suggest you make sure all your settings are correct and if you're using Opera make sure the browser identification is set correctly. It's remarkable what problems that can cause, just ask adsl3g.

I had a similar problem with yahoo using VM on EDGE, but I have no problem on MTN 3G. The only way arround logging onto Yaho was to install the yahoo task bar and access my account the button on the task bar.

I an currently having problems accessing hotmail via Microsoft Outlook and Outlook express. I can log directly to hotmail no problem. I get an error that the connection is unavailable.
