Hi guys.
At the moment I have a Black 2006 Toyota Yaris T3+ plus, with 60,000 Km on the clock. I might sell it for the 3 series. My friends mom is selling her 2005 BMW 320i with 90,000 kms on the clock. I'm thinking of buying it (I love BMW's). How much is it to extend the motorplan on the BMW? And another thing is I am so used to the fuel economy on the Yaris(it's brilliant!!) I'm scared I just might regret getting the 320i...
What do you guys think?

The bad news is that extending the motorplan on a BMW is very expensive. I think it's something like R25k to extend it by 1 year/30,000 km. What a joke.

The fuel economy on the 320i is very good. Not as good as a Yaris, but very good nontheless.

It's your funeral, if you want to go from boringly reliable Yaris to "anything can happen" BMW...be my guest! :D

A 2005 car with 90 000 on the clock? No ways. Never. Not unless its Japanese. And even then I'd be cautious.

FTR, when trading a car in, the recognised annual mileage that is considered acceptable is 20 000.

Going by that, a 2005 car should be heading towards 80 000 by the end of this year. I cannot see BMW being particularly keen to add a Maintenance /Service contract onto that baby without expecting quite a bit in return...

keep the yaris, its a great car. If you have to ask questions like that you definately cant afford it. Servicing, tyres everything much more expensive

hahahha

my 2007 citi 80 000km:D

LOL, just remember to bite your tongue when the salesman tries to knock you down on price when it comes to trade in time! :D

Personally, I don't mind a high mileage car, provided it's been well maintained. Engines are built to be used, and low mileage older cars are very often subjected to short trips where they cannot build up to normal temperature, and are subject to the most wear.

20 000 is still a comfortable annual mileage, however, and double that is heading towards excessive!:p

Are you still interested in selling? Yaris isn't my 1st choice but for the right price I'm in..

Geri, what do you think about a 2003 to 2005, Rav4 3-door with 100k/kms +? How much would be a fair price to buy that or is it not worth the bother at all, being a softroader & that old?

The 320i is slooooooooooowwwwww. I test-drove a 323i and was disappointed by the performance, so i can't bear to think how bad the 320i is.

That said, I wouldn't touch a german car of >4 years old unless it came with some sort of motorplan for at least 2 more years.
